Welcome oh Omniscient one from the Darkside, many thanks for the enlightenment. Overawed that supposedly unknown happenings to FC players are so widely known and discussed at gatherings in Caravan Park, Beirut. Perhaps you may be so bold as to praise an ex FC player rather than disparage the circumstances of his retirement. Will you be there, Friday to applaud him?

That reference to Beirut is really outdated. Seriously, Google images for Beirut. It’s more a compliment than an insult now. Apologies if that was your intention, but I doubt it from the tone.

Typical of you to pick on one insignificant detail and not deal with poignancy of the post, in particular disparaging the reasons for a stalwart “Immortals” retirement. He played in both winning finals, something that has earned respect, even from your lot that spends more time here, than the average FC poster.

Yes get back to Leicestershire, you deserter, what about Tuli, you’ve not mentioned him. Get waxing lyrical, and be sharp about it.

You mean his retirement is a poignant moment? I suppose it is, as for any player. I respect his achievements, acknowledge that his was a great story and wish him well for the future. The Immortals label is a tiny bit cloying for a non-Hull fan - but that's not his fault.
Right, I feel the need to be indignant about something now, and to repair the shwarmic balance it is going to be Beirut.
It is (possibly) typical of you to disparage the poignant renaissance of that great city following the end of the tragic civil war that wracked Lebanon in the 1980s (hush hush eye to eye). To still, after all this time and all the efforts at reconciliation and regeneration, be using it as a by-word for urban catastrophe shows a deep lack of respect. I assure you sir (or madam), that for people of Beirut their recent history and the transformations they have seen amount to much more than an 'insignificant detail', as you blithely describe it - and that deserves to be acknowledged! Will you join me in applauding the city of Beirut and the people who have rebuilt one of the Jewels of the Middle East?

Was that sufficiently lyrical?

After such an eloquent repost, my chagrin for the people and resplendent city of Beirut, knows no bounds and I apologise to them profusely. Regards the title “Immortals” being cloying, your fraternity on your side of our resplendent city, tend to celebrate 2 consecutive derby wins with as much gusto You do tend towards sensible posts, unlike the rest of your ilk, who disparage FC, it’s players and fans, on here, at every possible turn. It is very irksome, so please forgive me for the Beirut debacle. Henceforth, I shall just use the adjective “toilet” with regards to anything Caravan Park.
