Time for a move away if financially possible for me.

Even though we attract one of the best champ attendances, the crowd looks and sounds lost. We used to moan about lack of atmosphere with 15k in there most weeks

Something compact and shared would work well.

Just not close enough to all the info to know how likely this would be

He was quoting his own post regarding the Wilson transfer fee when he put that.

I believe the “lot of money” Aaron refers to is what we got from Hudders for Wilson. £125k apparently.

The issue with the leasehold is separate. Getting that back is important to the club because it could potentially unlock the chance to get funding to do the place up. However, the freehold remains in the hands of the council so I can’t see the ground be “re-purposed” for landfill or anything like that. There’s no way that would get planning permission – especially with new houses overlooking the site.

I’m not sure exactly what happens on 31st May. Does that mean the current lease held by the RFL is ending?? If so does that mean the Council is open to offers for a new leasehold from interested parties? If so are the RFL bidding again? Are the club? Are Hudgell and Carter? Is Ken Davy. All have expressed an interest. Or could the Council decide they no longer want to lease the ground and will sell it off along with their freehold? That might well attract a buyer with no interest in RL. Where might that leave us?

Interesting times. I have far more questions than answers.

Personally, much as I love the old place it’s well past its sell by date. It would cost many millions to bring it up to date. Probably a lot more than it would to build purpose built ground along the lines of a Halliwell Jones or Leigh Sports Village. I’d take a small neat new ground with a 15-20k capacity any day. Odsal is a black hole financially.

Of course getting the funding for such a new ground has eluded successive regimes at Odsal for generations. I expect we’ll remain there for the foreseeable future.

Aha. Cheers mate. Got completely the wrong end of the stick there.

So Mick G... Over to you. Developments with the three key stakeholders....

RFL
CBMDC
Chalmers

Real developments or just 'are we going to continue as if for the next 100 years or until RL dies, whichever is sooner?'

As I put on that twitter thread it could well be that the Council want to sell the Odsal site to make some money out of it. Given that they're struggling with austerity cuts and all that it seems plausible. Whether the club would be looked after as part of some deal is anyone's guess.

Could be interesting times ahead.

With Sedbergh Sports Centre almost ready to take over from Dicky Dunn's it does look like changes ahead...

In the know.... (just like his Morgan Escare tweet)

On the lease running out etc (which I believe means that it will no longer be mandatory for RL to be played there) I don't believe for a second the council will cash in and leave us homeless.

The council and Bulls seem to have a good relationship and despite what people think, they don't want to lose the Bulls.

I think it will be business as usual IMHO I'd be confident Chalmers is working hard in the background.

If there was some joined up thinking the council and RFL could sell the land and freehold to a housing developer. Housing developer builds new houses (think I'm right in saying that the government demands the council has to build a certain number of houses each year) the council use some of the money to build a nice new stadium on the vacant Richard Dunns site strengthening one of the city's assets and therefore in bringing people from outside the city. (and be used for other events such as the world Cup etc) to pump money into the local economy. Everyone would be a winner. I can but dream :D

It's scheduled to come down in November of this year.

They will look after the club.
