Can’t have it both ways dog, you say london with 10 mil residents, then when you pick the sports clubsthay I say the city is flush with you narrow it down to a couple of mile radius.
No one denies fragility of our financial situation, I never have, but reality is, I will say again is you can’t change that neither can I. Continuously harping back to the past is pointless, it’s gone it’s done it can’t be changed!
We are where we are.
As for 5 or 6 years time, by your own words you have been banging yr drum for 16 plus years, is that 16 plus years of predicting woe? If so that tells a story itself.

I predicted that London Broncos needed to have a minimum of 7k average attendance to survive and 10k to prosper. When I started we were 2k away from the lower figure.......we are now 6k away. Predicting the demise of the club isn't some psychological experiment, just an understanding of business and marketing......neither of which our current (or previous) owners had......Even Sir Richard thought "build it and they/he will come" was the way foreward, but as Einstein is repeatedly quoted as saying.......doing the same thing (in our case not a frigging thing) over and over again and expecting a different outcome is insanity.....
BTW.....16 years ago we were challenging for a play-off spot, with a comp leading try scorer and 4,500/5,000 fans......I said then that we needed to do more.......or we'd be in trouble.
We were soon in trouble, changed names, moved grounds, had our new owner bail and were left with the fool we have now.........I haven't changed my tune once.....I haven't suggested pointless ground moves, name changes, stupid and unqualified appointment into key positions......nope....all I've done s said if you don't tell people where we are, what we do and when we are doing it, it is a pretty pointless exercise........and as much as it pains you to accept, I was 100% spot on, correct and right.
To explain this concept to you. Your OPINION that referees have a thankless task is just that...an OPINION. My opinion that Hughes is inept at the day to day running of the club , including promotion and marketing is backed up not only by the resulting malaise that the club is currently in, but also by his own quotes in the pastel revolution book........he freely admits to a/ not being good at those things and b/ not taking advice from others.......
JESUS WEPT HOW MANY TIMES????? £20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000. The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.
There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them.

We live in a city where there is a huge audience for sports. We have seen US sports building a fan base and commanding large crowds. So the problem is not that we lack an audience, in fact, we have more potential than any SL club. The issues are (i) the mismanagement of the sport by the RFL which has seen it become increasingly anonymous despite being a great product and (ii) the lack of ambition and commercial focus to grow the Broncos into a successful and sustainable club over the last 10 or more years. While we can all appreciate that DH has kept the club alive he has failed to deliver on its potential. Of course, these are problems of the past but also the present and unless something changes the outcome will be inevitable.
It’s interesting! Predicted 7k to survive 10k to prosper. 16 years ago we had an average of 4.5 to 5k still below the 7k yet we still survive! Dont think I have ever stated an opinion that match officials have a thankless task! Thankless presumes they get nothing for doing it, that’s not the case. I know your opinion of DH, my point is, you can’t change it, I can’t change it, buzza can’t change it. Buzza is closer to the issue, with how the sport is supported in the region, that brings up the question of why though.

Where does the 7k come from ? I thought Lenegan at one point had said we needed 5k crowds to be self sustaining (and that was at The Stoop which must have been an expensive ground).

Relying 100% on the benevolence of 1 man isn't survival......as I said, when he dies, the club dies with him. When we had the 4,500/5k averages, he was investing 2 million + into the club and we were challenging.......by the time he and his gimp dragged the club into the oblivion that was Barnet, he was investing 2 million and were canon fodder. The clubs continued failure to attract new fans, heavyweight sponsors or even new investors is 100% down to one man......and I am aware that unless my numbers come up on the lottery, I can't change it, but it doesn't prevent me from pointing out that the clubs level of marketing activity in 2019 is reaping exactly what it deserves......1,400 for a top flight match against rivals who needed to beat to give ourselves a chance of survival!
The Clubs website is advertising the ST discount for DACIA Weekend.......so essentially preaching to the choir. Anyone who read some of the excellent PR pieces over the last week or so and wanted to investigate further should be greeted at the landing page with an offer promoting the next home game with a call to action.....the second landing page on rotation is promoting tonights game at the HJ.....it's embarrassing how bad they are at this stuff.
Our next home game will be on the 18th v Catalan. Not only should we have been targeting local French Themed businesses https://www.cote.co.uk/menus/ealing/, but also any of the airlines who fly from Heathrow to Perpignan to get a few tickets for the return game to have as prizes on match day........but nah.......just announce KO time and hope they rock up.......it's insanity of the highest order.
Speaking of marketing. Well done to Wire for flogging the backside out of their kids offering for tonight
