That's why Cas wanted dispensation for Gale.
I'd imagine Logan will be in the top 25 as he's in year 4 of a 4 year contract. If he leaves or is bought out, the player who is currently 26th in the earners will count in the cap. I can't see that really making much difference to the cap total.
A big earner needs to leave or there is space on the cap. I reckon it's the latter.
Spending 90% of the cap still leaves £200k to play with. It doesn't make financial sense to squeeze every last drop out of the salary cap.
And if it were a “marquee signing” is this money say for Savelio counted in the salary cap at present, or is it an extra budget.

More than likely, a £100k player here would earn the equivalent of £250k in the NRL, so they reduce their cap liability and a lot of their expenditure.
Not sure we can declare his cap space as what we're paying him, sounds like rule bending.
