Danril wrote:Steve, my view is that they’re better than they’re putting out there and, at times, they seem to stop playing. The defensive line stays still rather than push up and we just seem to stop trying.

This isn’t new and is a characteristic that isn’t unique to a particular coaches reign. The players look like they don’t care as much as the opposition.

We are in a paradoxical situation. The ref gave us nothing but then the ref shouldn’t have to. The second penalty on the 5th and last in the second half - what was it for? I have issues with what I perceive as a lack of even handedness by the referee but it pales into comparison with the lack of leadership, commitment and effort by our players.

Our heads drop like someone cutting the string on pinnochio’s head. No pride, no professionalism and the one or two that actually try deserve better.

Woolford’s comments really worry me because the issues he says are hard to fix are precisely the ones he is paid to address.

Worrying but there is time. I’ll be going to work tomorrow in a bad mood. Not good times to be from Huddersfield.

That sums it up nicely.

I always look at the defensive line speed as a sign of intent.

Ours stutters from decent to two steps forward two sideways and two back - a bit like waltzing (not that I know owt about dancing).

I thought Oliver Russell showed the best line speed for us yesterday which for his size says it all.

A lot of hard looks in the mirror required I feel otherwise a long, hard season ultimately ending in relegation.

At the moment it looks like it's between us, Leeds and Wigan!

Whoda thought it.

Indeed. At least Town have had an adventure.

The difference is that football is so skewed to the top four or five clubs that there’s no hope whatsoever that Town will ever compete with them, unless a foriegn billionaire fancies spending half a billion pounds.

But there are no structural reasons why the Giants can’t compete with Wigan and Saints etc That’s very frustrating to me.

Picked himself.
No effort.
Didn't support those around him.

If you reckon yes to any of those, then you have my sympathy.

Seriously, did you watch today's game? You've just taken the easy option. Grix should not be playing. He signed on not expecting to play. He was past his best when he left, let alone now he's returned. But to pick him out, when he was left so exposed by his team mates, is just boringly lazy.

By picking out Grix you, and a fair few others, are missing the worrying bigger picture by far.

picked out the forwards too..thats the biggest problem, been saying it since last season...

come on, warrington and leeds pay marquee players so spend more than us to name just two

the problem is now we arent an attractive club to join, the only way we can get players now is to offer a longer deal than another club... uate for example a 3 yr deal... others maybe offered 2 but he will come here for an extra year.. just an example there are others in this team too

then you can delve further into the academy scene where the top youngsters in the area are being picked up by the clubs with more money, offering them money at a young age, cant blame the parents too for saying you would be better going to wigan etc than hudds

the main comments from woolford post match are around showing no resilience.....

hinchcliffe had that in abundance but hes gone, an example of players like that we lack now in this team

cudjoe and clough would help but guess what...... the other problem injuries

Sorry, but that’s the same old story we always hear. Poor little Giants can’t ever compete.

The gap between Huddersfield Town and Manchester City is a thousand times bigger than the gap between Fartown and Wigan.

The Giants are just a comfort zone from the top down, They will just keep dipping their bread in the gravy for as long as they are allowed. Whoever is in charge of buying is stealing a living, We pay a fortune for a so called top winger who will probably receive less passes than any other winger in the league, we have endless combinations of Halves none of which ever get to play off the front foot and so get slagged off.
We have players who get injured if somebody looks at them sideways and we don't see them again for months . We have far and away the poorest pack in the league and when everyone is fit and well ( if they ever are ) we will still have the poorest pack in the league .
If Woolford can't see what everyone else can see he wants to be on his way or if he can't change it then he shouldn't be here anyway. I don't care if we won 8 games on the trot last season, when it came to the crunch we didn't win the one's we needed too and we will lose a lot more than 8 on the trot unless some one at the club gets into the real world. I know we are a good side who can go all the way, I spent all winter reading about how well they trained and how well they all got on and played for each other, They might be better telling the other teams that while they are rolling us down the field.

You lads are both correct and Steve May you have always been on the ball about the real issues at the Giants. I’ve always tried to take the line that it’s up to Ken it’s his money etc but that is wearing thin the enjoyment has gone plenty of people are voting with their feet and when he looks across at the empty stands you would think he would make some changes at the top, can’t see it though Woolford will be the next fall guy if he loses 3 more. The club needs a complete change
