I’m not sure what decent you saw from uate, missed half as many tackles as he made, and three errors from a guy who barely touched the ball isn’t great.
Incidentally Faz was our third highest tackler behind Lawrence and mellor. Made 33 missed 1- from a half that’s brilliant- and he still outshone frawley in attack for me.

0 carries and 0 meters for faz too so not all good

Its not just that we have injuries, I feel like we haven’t recruited in the right areas

Why bring in Uate when Darnell was brilliant on the wing last year why not bring in a quality full back , Frawley I think still needs time to gel with Gaskell but we needed a loose forward in my opinion cause as much as I like Bruno I don’t think he’ll cut it there

Lawrence rarely gives away penalties and didn’t concede one last night. Mellor was second highest tackler so he’s hardly going missing! Maybe if some of the others did a bit more.....

I understand what you say, but I think your missing my point. It's better to watch and review the game rather than look at stats. Lawrence may be higher on the tackle count than most but for the majority of them, he is coming in after 75% of the tackle is complete.
And Mellor may also be high on the count, but if he is missing on three or four tries, then that's the stat that counts

I’m more bothered about effort tbh. It’s clear we don’t have the most skilful of players in our squad- but you can make up for some of that with effort. I can forgive any player that missed a tackle after putting in 40. Less so if it’s missed after putting in 2.
No half back should have to make 33 tackles- if that’s happening someone else is lacking in effort.

Exactly!! Where's the loose forward to help him out? And who was his second rower on that edge??

Faz has to make so many tackles as Salford targeted him, he should have had more protection but the plan was always tongetbat him, Mellor and Turner didn’t do him any favours, stats won’t tell you how both were caught out of position time and time again

Same old story, what you will find as in previous seasons is when the players start coming back morale is shot so we keep on losing.

I'm sorry but we accept garbage far too easily at Huddersfield. I've waited to post for a few days because i was absolutely fuming at the guff we served up on Friday night. First game of the seasons, AT HOME, against a side most tip to be in the bottom 2 and we were absolutely shocking. We were nowhere near winning that game, and although we had injuries there is absolutely no excuse for :

1) Shocking line speed in defence
2) Barely managing to get out of our 20 without a penalty
3) Getting dominated in every aspect of the game

When i saw team sheet i was worried that Farrell would be terrible like last time he played, but he fully deserved man of the match. They targetted him all night in defence and he stepped up to the mark, and had some really nice touches in attack too, saw him in a new light. Frawley is not the organiser we were hoping for, but , you can see that he is a very dangerous line runner, and if we knew how to back up would have scored at least one tries from his breaks (he was the only one who made one all night)

There is no excuse for our established players (many of whom have been spouting on the website about how much they are looking forward to 'ripping in') for producing such an utterly lacklustre display AT HOME in the first game of the season. No go forward at all, and slow, plodding , wait for the attack to make a play defence. It was utterly shocking and they should be embarrassed to wear the shirt.
