Much prefer to see a team working together rather than reliance on one player.
Think the first 3 fixtures will show if we have any chance at all of finishing where we need to!

Looking at the squad numbers/list, I'd be pleasantly surprised if we pick up more than a handful of wins all season.
Very top heavy with hookers and light in terms of quality and experience in the halves and the back row.

Hope I'm wrong!

He's still got a few months to go but would Tom Minns be worth looking at for when his drugs ban is up? His contract with HKR was terminated wasn't it, which would make him a free agent?

Garry Schofield has us beating Wakefield by 8 points. I do not know if that is good or bad news.

A season like 2014 would be very difficult. Certainly it would be no fun.

I really mean no disrespect here but as a Wakey fan making the trip down I will be very dissapointed if we lose to London. There’s always the chance of a the ocassion giving London a boost though there’s always an argument for the flip side.

I’m pleased London are back and I hope you fans enjoy some success and finish above 12th because as a wakey fan I know the feeling of losing 5/7/10+ on the bounce and it’s horrible.

The reason I would be gutted if wakey lose is that we have been in transition for the last 2/3 years and are progressing ever so slightly season by season to almost break that top 4. As a fan I’m naturally hoping we finally break out of transition this year and actually challenge and to do that you have to manage ocassions like another teams return to the top flight with professionalism and getting the W.

We have strengthened yet again in 2019 and to see Wakey regress would be both against the grain of recent times and dissapointing but there is always that chance.

Personally, I’m sure it will be a great ocassion for London and Wakey and I’m looking forward to seeing what London have to offer. I too thought there would be a few more additions to London with some big investment in an impact prop and the half’s the very least. As a wakey fan though I know players that are written off can turn around and develop into some very good SL standard players (Reece Lynn is a prime example).

I wish Wakey well, but hope earlyseaon enthusiasm carries her through. It is totally unrealistic to think that David Hughes would fork out big money on a couple of marquee players. Our last experience wasn’t great.

Let’s see what the team can do. We were written off last year especially after the mid season wobble, yet we bounced back. I remain a glass half full person. We only need to finish second to bottom. 7/8 wins? I believe we can do that. To get promotion was a tremendous achievement, let’s enjoy the next stage!

TH like your approach and enthusiasm. Think you have to temper your enthusiasm and wakey progress with what has happened with other teams though, eg leeds and Warrington having poor seasons, has resulted in you ending up closer to the 4. Don’t get me wrong last couple of seasons your lot have shown a bit of consistency which is great to see, RL needs a break from the same same rut it has got into with GF.
As for your trip down south, hope you bring a few fans and hope it’s a good game whatever the result.
For london the squad in my view is a bit thin, we will struggle with the intensity in SL but this has to be a game london can win, first game of the season is always bit of an unknown.

I get the angle your coming from northern with the “top teams have underperformed” and I would be inclined to agree had we only finished 5th once but twice isn’t an accident (along with 8th 3 years ago). The old saying you can only play what’s in front of you applies and we have beaten many of the top teams these past 2 years and in some cases quite convincingly.

There’s always going to be that cautious approach to a team like wakey who are at present a mid table team as history dictates that.

The pleasing thing is and this goes back to some earlier discussion is that Wakey have cut their cloth and run to budget as a business to get where they are consistently. It seems this approach is what London are going for. Certainly more sustainable than the Salford method.

Truly though, there’s a little apprehension I can’t shake as I’ve seen wakey fall to pieces after a shred of hope over the years. With that not happening for 3 years and consistent baby steps being taken in not tempering my enthusiasm for a change. Of course that leaves me open to being crestfallen if it does go sideways but I’ll take that if it happens lol.
