I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised that we had the new strips for last season in time for christmas. Will it happen this year? I hope so. I thought that both the home and away strips were pretty good. I know the away strip which was worn at the MPG drew a lot of compliments. I have to say the replica kit sizes were better too. I do feel that by issuing a 1999 Cup Final inspired shirt last year was a bit daft. We should have had that this year to celebrate the twenty years since that game. I await news of the strip. I know the club have a lot of things to deal with but getting shirts in in time for christmas should be one of them.
On the Progressive Rugby League Podcast they loved the all red worn in the million pound game. I like it too. I think we would do well having something very similar as 'our colours' and the home kit indefinitely. Black works well as an alternate strip. The only thing i'd like to see is that the replicas are made of 100% cotton or some blend.
My son, who was at his first game when we fare welled SL v The Bulls in 2014 got his first shirt when he was in town for the Leeds game....he's not wanted to take it off since we beat the mancpac...........i'd love a retro broncos shirt and hopefully the recent tweets are steering us away from that rubbish blue/black cricket logo.....red is London......
JESUS WEPT HOW MANY TIMES????? £20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000. The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.
There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them.
I like the black home shirt - hopefully with a proper white chevron and red piping next season. Goes back to the club's founding years and it's also a unique colour on the London sporting scene. And then keep the red away kit, with the little blue and yellow touches, because it goes to another good era in the club's history.
Dude on another forum reckons the badge is being updated.
I guess the availability of kits pre-Christmas depends on the search for sponsors. There isn't much time to look for some between now and the season, let alone before Christmas, but being in SL 'should' help the club bring in some new businesses. You'd think, anyway.
Something like this would work well aesthetically and would obtain more publicity than every other rugby league club in the world combined. If this was our strip the new stand would have to accommodate 100k never mind 1k.
