At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000. The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.
There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them.
I reckon the Toronto fans quite fancy being in SL. Be interested to see if they still keep turning up if they don’t get promoted, or after a couple of spankings in SL
Northernbloke,I didn't know you referee but as this is one of the most important games of the year,I know these touchjudges have to officiate somewhere but do you think it is a little odd giving them this game seeing as they are the newest touchjudges?
They are not the newest touch judges! They are the newest guys to become full time Match Officials. Actually from what I know about the guys that’s a pretty strong team. It’s the only game out of the 3 that has 3 full time officials appointed
