I know the manner of the defeat today for you guys is a major concern, but I think you are safe as I cannot see a now relegated Widnes having any desire/fight left now and can honestly see you putting the cleaners through them, especially if your attack clicks like it did against us (Leeds) a few weeks back.
Also as crap as we have been this season, I think we will beat Toronto for you so it will be us, you and Salford for the top 3 and probably Toronto v London in the MPG
2016 all over again. 1st MPG is next weekend vs Widnes. Relegated already and disheartened, their players will want to look good to get a new contract elsewhere and go out with a bang.
Leeds will be safe by the end of tomorrow and Hetherington hates Hudgell. Looking forward to next year and not wanting any more injuries may field a young side.
London to beat halifax.
Salford get Hastings back at home to Toulouse but lost the last 2. Outside chance of a Toulouse win.
I could easily see positions 2-6 all on 8 points. Our pts diff is shocking and could see us auto relegated in 6th. Would Hudgell carry on?????
Or beat Widnes and at worst be at home in the MPG and maybe 3rd if Leeds win (but the whole fielding a weakend team thing is massive).

I wonder if Hudgell wishes there was a way more than one could get promoted from championship next season, some sort of round robin 8 type set up with multiple promotion chances rather than just one up?
Wishful thinking on my part.Widnes have already stated they are staying full time and rebuilding to get back into Super League asap. Taking another SL full time pro club down with them would make their job a lot harder than it will be anyway.

I guess two of the concerns for us are that Widnes don’t have any pressure on them and we’ll have loads, and how many busted players we’re having to field.

I rather doubt it, tbh. What the club and its hierarchy would do in response to relegation is a question for another, if potentially not too distant, day. Certainly, there’d be some different approaches to consider.

Just saying, he seemed quick to want to pull up the draw bridge and now might be stuck on the other side. I suspect he wasn't thinking relegation was an option when he campaigned
Another interesting thought is the infamous parachute of £0.5m. I'm sure I saw a quote the other day saying it had been agreed if Widnes were relegated. What happens now? 50% each?

He talked about the possibility of relegation when discussing the new system in an interview not so long ago. We’ve been here before, so we know. There’s still p&r, now with a guaranteed spot, so I don’t think that is a problem if we’re in a position to chase it, compared with the 8s.
The 8s system hasn’t been kind to us (we haven’t helped ourselves on occasion, admittedly) and I doubt there’s any set of fans happier to see the back of it, whatever happens now.

Toronto want get within 10 points of Leeds, you will beat Widnes, all 3 remaining super league sides will stay up automatically, hope London or Toulouse come up, both agave paid the dues nth lower leagues, Toronto will be another Celtic crusaders, Paris.
