I see that expansion in the USA is in trouble, the next 2 games in Denver have been cancelled, and fat (idiot) Nigel will be looking into the the deal with the promoter for the 2025 world cup. Apparently the promoter for the game in Denver in June has not paid the England and NZ RFL the money he owes them. Big Nige certainly knows how to run a business.

I called "foul" when the 2025 cup was awarded and pointed out that Moore had delivered little more than a baseball match in Sydney........I normally don't do smug
Who am I kidding, I was again right.
JESUS WEPT HOW MANY TIMES????? £20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000. The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.
There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them.

I did not disagree with you I think the North American expansion is stupid.

2 separate things. The world cup being awarded to Moore sports....sorry, USA and Canada was a mistake, of that there is no longer any doubt. North American expansion on the other hand is possible, but I have major concerns about the exact motivation of Argyle, given he did try to buy Leigh Centurions first.......I bet degsy wishes he'd said yes now

Did they not do due diligence on this Moore guy before awarding his company these events. It is surely the responsibility of the sports governors to do so. Any Tom, Dick or Harry can make extravagant promises about how well and how financially fruitful it would be if they are given the rights to these events. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. It seems what has been dished up so far by Moore, is proving hard to swallow. Although this World Cup is a long way off it needs sorting. I bet there is more to this story than has come out so far.

Well, it would appear the NZRL are as adept at "self-foot shooting" as the RFL. We gave them a payment deadline sometime after the game......you'd assume this initial payment date would have initially been a couple of weeks after the game...maybe mid July?
Quote:Moore Sports International was given a revised timeline, August 31 (American time), to pay the money. However, NZRL chief executive Greg Peters confirmed the firm had not done so.
and we wonder why we are being left behind by other sports...
