It's really churlish to characterise it like that; two players challenging quite legitimately (and bravely) for a loose ball - LMS got clipped, it obviously hurt, but he was ok to continue. No intent from Miller, no play-acting from LMS - it does them both a disservice when you turn it into something it wasn't.
On the wider issue of incursion onto the field of play by support staff - pretending to do something other than coach - I agree, it's irritating, and I would've thought a bit dangerous for them; but on top of everything else the ref has to deal with, it's probably too much to expect them to have eyes on that too. Maybe the fourth official, who deals with substitutions and such, could play a role?
