Toronto are being made to look very ordinary in the game against Fev. If they continue to play like they are today in the Middle 8s, then promotion might end up being a pipe dream. The RFL would be very disappointed. The TWP fans are very quiet, they have never seen them losing at home, it seems to be a bit of a shock to them.
Do you honestly think Toronto wanted to win that game? Fev lose, then there is still an outside chance Leigh could have made the 4, yep would have meant us and fax losing but still possible. The bad blood between Leigh and TWP dictated the result of this game, nothing to do with teams abilities. This result virtually ensures Leigh cannot make the 4
Yes I do. In front of their largest ever gate they lost their unbeaten record at home. North American sport loves winners, the club has sold itself on being a winning club. Then along come a team from a small Yorkshire mining village, who get into their face and knock them off their perch. If TWP fail to gain promotion, which on yesterdays form seems likely. Then it will be interesting to see how they perform as a club next season and what happens to their attendance. At the moment they are Torontos sporting heroes. Failing to win and not putting big scores past their opponents, they could quite quickly lose that mantle.
Bosty, do you honestly think all of a sudden TWP have become a bad team. Everyone going over there has struggled, part time teams even more than full time, that was no different for Fev. They had a choice going into this game 100% home record or put a nail in Leigh’s coffin. Sorry but I should have put money on this result, Toronto (rowley) were happy to lose this one and stick a finger up to Leigh.
I suggested twp could play tactics July 22 not sure why it’s a surprise

Hopefully the bookies will be onto any irregular betting patterns.

JESUS WEPT HOW MANY TIMES????? £20 a ticket and £15 on beer and merchandise.....so an away fan is worth £35. At best, 1,000 is the average away support split across 11 rounds and I am being really generous here, so Toronto, replacing say Wakefield will cost a SL club £35,000. The minimum turnover of a SL club is £4,000,000 so Toronto instead of Widnes is worth less than 1% of a SL clubs turnover.
There are many valid reasons for and against expansion into America, but "AWAY FANS" isn't one of them.
Brian Noble is complaining that TWP are unfairly being forced to play their home games, in a way which will cost the club three hundred thousand pounds for flights. it also puts their players at risk. I do not think he can expect a lot of sympathy from this side of the atlantic. He wanted TWP to play their games in blocks as before. The RFL would not allow it. At least he will have his excuse ready, should they not get promoted.
Don’t think you can say that’s Brian Noble, it’s the club who apparently were “furious “ with the RFL and the home and away plan in the play offs! Next season will be interesting whichever league they are in, will they be allowed to play games in blocks as before, I suspect not. Today’s result was pretty close, looks like they don’t like travel.
Sure Nobby is just a mouthpiece for the club. They use him because he is a name that is recognized in the sport. However they made such a big thing of this trans atlantic league, well the price of that is lots of travel, having had the fixtures arranged for their benefit, a fairer distribution of games is something they may well have to get used to. I only wish we had TWP at home, because I am sure we would beat them. However I think we do have a chance over there
Nobby is actually a decent bloke, but yep yr right he is the recognised name over there so it is him they will use. They made such a big deal of this historic trans Atlantic thing, and as I said I hope next year the RFL don’t bow to there demands
