He is far better. A few years ago, it would have been the other way round, but believe me Thompson is a lad with a lot of heart and effort. More of your JJB style than a quality player with good hands, but certainly the type of player you want when you are struggling.

A lot of heart & effort is exactly what Walters brings so that's hardly a ringing endorsement. We must be thinking of a different Jordan Thompson because at best he's another Kirke at his peak imo just plays longer minutes. This squad is desperate for quality not this standard.

It is nothing like Walters brings at all. Walters is all over the place not understanding the game, and makes very little yardage. That isn't a comparison.
I think you are very much having a brain fart Mark on Thompson. By no means am I saying he is stand out quality player, or what I would have wanted going forward, but he is certainly a different player than the one you seem to think. Just like with Crosby last week, I think you are having a problem recognising the difference between quality, can do a job, and poop. It seems to be quality or poop for you at the current time.
Thompson is nothing like Kirke. He is much faster, plays with more guts, and contstantly makes himself available. He is exactly the type of player you want when a team needs a lift. Whether he is that player when you are challenging at the top, well that isn't someting I am going to argue over, that is up to the player to prove himself if given an opportunity.
I agree entirely that the squad needs going forward genuine marquee quality though.

I agree but I do think he has actually realised this and why he is changing things up a bit with the director of rugby role.

Crosby had a decent game against the worst team in SL since Halifax finished with 0 pts. I also stand by the comparison with Walters he has as much heart & effort as most his positioning etc are a different debate you offered that up as a quality in Thompson when the reality is that should be a minimum requirement for any Leeds player. When Kirke 1st joined he was useful wrt pace dont you remember the try v Wigan? Also "can do a job" can be found in that u19 pack in abundance & we/they would gain much more long term.

I genuinely think if he signs and plays your fans will view it differently and wouldn't be surprised to see him earn a deal fo rnext year. Will offer far more than Ferres

What do you want Crosby to do?
He was a good player at wigan and Warrington saw something in him, he then suffered some really testing off field issues but is now looking to get back on track, he could turn out to be a pretty shrewd signing

The reply was to gotcha about Crosby he had a decent game but nothing yet that makes me change my opinion about the signing.
