Yes, i do agree Steve, especially at this stage now,but also thank him for turning it around after NJ,but yes it's painful to watch at the minute with the dreadful defence.
He's done ok in a short while , i wouldn't write him of as hes started of in a bad state . He's only lost 2 matches
Leigh to win challenge cup before 2020 Leigh to reach Grand Final by 2022

He's no good - the lad is huge but couldn't bust through a wet paper bag. He was crap at Wigan, he was crap here, and christ knows why Saints then signed him. Predictably, he was crap there as well.

Thing is how many of these players would purtill have signed ????If purtill would have been in charge before all the changes were made we would have made top 4 and would he have got rid of 17 odd players
I think KP has done a good job with the hand he was dealt. He inherited a team in disarray and just about dead and buried. One of the worst teams in the league with zero team spirit and confidence when he got them, turned into the second best team in the league. I think we need to rethink our halfback pairing, and rebuild our pack. I do not think we need a new coach.

I'm with you VL. I don't think any other coach could have done any better with this squad of players. Some of them had (or may have had) a reputation in the NRL, but all bar one of the overseas' signings have proved a disappointment to me. For my money, and with the wonderful benefit of hindsight, we went wrong in pre-season, when we didn't change our coach (with all respect to NJ) and when we changed too many players - including some who knew what was needed to get out of the Championship.
Funding for next season is going to be a problem so, if possible, I would try to sell some of our higher earners, (if anyone would have them!) and recruit very carefully for next season. There, sounds easy, doesn't it?

Agree with your post VL. I do not think KP is the problem at all. He has actually done incredibly well with an inherited squad, coming off 5 out of 6 opening losses.

Bang on both VL & HRJ but what has happened to the defence that was, at one point under KP, laudable? More or less a full squad back in the running (yes HRJ, let's not rake over old ground) but backward steps (literally) when keeping our Keep.

Fingers tightly crossed for next weekend.
That is a conundrum. One reason I think is that we are lacking a dominant pack (for one reason or another) and that has put us on the back foot in both defence and attack. More time and room for the opposition halfbacks to get the ball out, and less time for our own to do the same. A dominant pack can set the game tone for a strong, aggressive defence. What ever the reason it has cost us when playing Toronto for sure and has been very obvious the last few weeks in general.
