Who was head of Youth when Josh left. ?

Whoever it was, I don't think he could've done anything different. He had Berrigan and Houghton ahead of him so going to KR for regular game time was the best option for his development.

Mixed thoughts on that, as Karen said we had Berrigan and Houghton at the time and I can't remember Hodgson standing out on his few appearances for us. i don't even remember being overwhelmed when he was at Rovers, it is Down Under where everything has clicked for him and he's turned in to the top class player he is today.

that said our player management in that era was pretty shocking, several players have commented about small issues leaving a sour taste about the club.

personally I think that's spot on!

The Uncle Kath regime came up with a few blunders and letting Hodgson go was, with hindsight, one of them. Even so you would be at a stretch to argue he had more than 2 better seasons than Houghton out the 5 he was at the dobbins, and I'm basing this on England Knights/England selection which is at least independent of the partisan views in this city.

What he has done since is commendable but then again it is of no use whatsoever to the dobbins at all. Meanwhile Houghton has got a Man of Steel award amongst others so he has continued to contribute. It looks like we will never get to know how Houghton would go at international level or NRL so it is a bit of a moot point on where they stand now (Hodgson was less than great in the World Cup BTW).

To conclude, careless decision to let Hodgson go, but ultimately not too disastrous from a Hull point of view.

Is it on a par with letting Marcus Bai go on loan to Dockers or Rovers letting JAmie SHAUL go because he was too small ?
