Whilst I do agree this squad is no where near as bad as the 2015 squad, the competition this year, and especially that of the championship is much stiffer than that in 2015.
With the squad we have, we should not have got ourselves into this situation.

No we wearnt but niether was the championships sides as good as they are now Doom and gloom or realastic does it matter which to some on here there was no chance wed be bottom 4 either

Same as the other year, let's see if the Championship clubs can play 7 full on intensive game's, one after the other, I'd say not, like Leigh got found out the other year. Yep and I was one that said we won't end up in the bottom 4 and I still believe that.
To be fair, you can say this is the best squad we have had in SL if you want, but in my opinion 8th or 9th is realistically where we could expect to be based on our squad and compared against others.
The only clubs we could look at the squads of and expect to finish above are
Widnes Salford Hull KR
Then looking at competing with the Giants next. The way the season is panning out if Leeds win tonight, I expect them to beat Widnes and Salford, so it would most likely be us and Giants battling for 8th.
We spend considerably less than most teams on the squad, the fact we have what we do is down to some very shrewd recruitment (in the main) and great negotiating by MC.
If you look at points difference, we are the only team in the bottom half who has a positive number, which shows we have been competitive on the whole but just not been able to close out some tight games and it is these fine margins which dictate where you end up in the league.
All in all, I don’t think Chester has done too bad a job and we do try to play attractive rugby which is enjoyable to watch. The only criticism I would make (which others have already alluded to on other threads) is dropping Max and moving Rocky to accommodate Finn, when the team without him was starting to get some cohesion and performing well

Cant afford to slip into the mid 8s Salford are signing players i dont underestimate HKR for a minute Toronto will take some beating as will Toulouse Tonight is our million pound game in many ways The cynic in me could be forgiven for thinking Trinity want to bow out of SL with no news on the stadium and past talk of resigning

I think we'd survive the middle 8s if we ended up in them, but I do agree that a loss tonight will put immense pressure on us to win the next 2 games. If we think tonight is a must win pressure game, just think what it will be like if it comes down to needing to beat Huddersfield in the last game.
