We have been saying all year that we want a settled half-back pairing. We had one, Finn and Miller, the one that served us so well last year. It never quite got going again, perhaps one season too long for Finn, so he has to try something he wasn't expecting to try. He tries again, but still not quite going like last year, so once more he tries something new. It's hard to criticise Chester for trusting what went so well last year, and it's hard to know whether someone is not quite what he was until games start proper.
If he had ditched the Finn and Miller combo from week one, to get Hampshire and Miller to gel, people would have been for his head for that, because he'd have ditched the winning formula. On a hiding to nothing.
At worst, it's just turned out Finn has lost some pace, and we've had to readjust.
Finns had one good game all year, against hudds at home on a quagmire. On dry tracks he's been exposed as slow and targeted by the opposition regular. Not just him jowitt in and out, caton brown in and out, Hampshire in and out then at full back?? Pauli prop, 2nd row then interchange, doesn't know best starting front rowers. No faith in fringe players, or too much faith in non performers. Without experience like Kear with him he's out of his depth.

Caton-Brown was always going to be in and out, depending on the fitness of Johnstone and Bishop. Grix is first choice. Jowitt has played when Grix unfit. Hampshire in and out due to continued efforts to get last years winning formula going. Starting and bench props change all the time. Could be dependent on the nature of the opposition as to whether it suits an impact player from the bench or Pauli from the start.
Like I said, all that's gone wrong re changes is his belief that last year's winning formula can get going again, and he'd be for it on here if he discarded it right at the start.
Also, you criticise him for changing his team too often, yet criticise him for not dropping under-performers to give fringe players a go. To do the latter, you have to do the former, so at least be consistent in your criticism.
EVENTUALLY, WE'LL WIN SOMETHING, ,MAYBE, IF I'M STILL ALIVE THEN
Was that a Freudian slip of the tongue by Eddie Hemmings commentating during first half of tonights Sky game, i'm sure he said tomorrow's televised game [Leeds v Wakefield] bottom 4 clash.

My criticism is that he has kept faith in players who either can't or don't perform. He then says he'll give the new 1-7 a run of games. We perform well in this time winning 3 could have been four, then he just changes it again for no apparent reason. In doing so we have lost confidence and momentum.

Squeeky bum time but it's still in our hands to succeed. It will be exciting. We sent Car down on tv in a big game. Same with Bradford. Let's send Leeds to the middle 8s in the same way.

The reason we will win is Kallum Watkins. Without him Leeds are garbage, no threat, no leadership and as a bonus no goalkicker.
They also lack size without Mullally and passion without JJB & Delaney. Sinfield or not they really are not that good.
