For me it's a point won not a point lost, didn't think we would get near them so to come away with a draw was a decent result, yep we could have won it, one blown try under the sticks, gumpy makes 70mtrs then panics a bit, api trying to snatch the second attempt at the drop goal when it was back to one on the tackke count. Then again how many times did we throw the ball behind the receiver. Very few dummy runners and no angled runners. For me our ptb at times is painfully slow. But a draw better than a loss.
Overall I thought it a fantastic game, best I have seen this season. Yes we could, maybe should have won, but a draw a fair result. I thought both defences were great at times, the Toulouse tackle to put Williams into touch before half time and the tap tackle on Walker when he seemed certain to score in particularly good. A couple of points
player of the day - Eddie Battye
I declare an interest, I sponsor him with my son. He deserves a medal and player of the season for today! He was on the pitch for 55+ minutes, was First receiver 9x out of 10, played stand-off at sctums, tackled his heart out and ( northern bloke will probably correct me, didn’t give away a penalty!
Discipline
I thought we were very disciplined, played the referee well and for the first time in my memory gave away less penalties than we received.
Referee
I am biased, the French crowd hated him, but I thought he was excellent! Two sin-binning, both deserved. Kept game flowing, didn’t get much wrong!
Finally, when we went 20-12 down, I thought there was no way back, we were disciplined, organised and outstanding in those last 10/15 mins apart from Api’ brain fade for the second drop goal attempt after the first was charged down and we had 6 tackles from 20 metres.............. but I will forgive all the mistakes, great game so pleased I went though I feared the worst!
Mate am with you io ted I think last few games he has really stood out, and think yr right he didn't give away any free mtrs, and yep tonight he was our player of the match. Loved the sneaky Dixon try from dummy half. And yep think Matt had a good game in the middle
