I have to say, although he's had some good games, Sts at home springs to mind, he's had some disappointing ones. The particular one that springs to mind is Catalan. He tried too hard to put the big shot on old colleagues and ended up giving penalties away and missing tackles. Can't afford that today. Saying that, unless Chester is playing a back in the pack, he'll be playing.

Hampshire Johnstone Tupou Lyne Ben Jones-Bishop Miller Finn England Randell Hirst Ashurst Horo Arona
Wood Fifita Pauli Annakin
I am really torn on the Jowitt or Finn decision but I really like Hampshire at full back so that swung it. I think I'd also bring the whole bench on at the same time to change it up. A set with Fifita then Annakin then Pauli when they are tired with Wood looking for gaps could change the game.

I’m usually the first person to bash Max but on a day like today I think I would start Max at Fullback and Hampshire at scrum half over Finn. We’re going to need some pace today.

We need pace every game, what's your specific reasoning for wanting it in this particular game?

Well in cold, wet and groggy games you usually leave the hard yards to the forwards. I always think that on days like today you want a quick play of the ball and players who once in space, aren’t going to be chased down for a forward (i.e Finn)

Finny's pace is well documented and criticised on here, but there's nothing wrong with his speed of thought, maybe it's Chester's plan to use this asset to good effect and to put the quick players into this space and exploit the big Catalan players who don't have the pace we have, and for what it's worth I bet you can count on one hand the number of times Finn will get caught in possession.

I see the point about young legs today. Fitness as much as speed. We won't be poorer for playing Max I just think Rocky puts a better pass in when he links in the line and we need to release the wings today.

Funny how we all see things differently ... I think Max links up much better out wide... especially with Tom . I like his pace coming out from fullback too. Either way we need a win !!

This i see totally different, Hampshire too often runs his support players out and has to take the tackle IMO The main reason, I am told, that saw him moved out of pivot positions at various clubs.
Does anyone actually know whether Max was 'rested' against Saints, or was he injured? He did get a knock against Widnes, but he seemed to shake it off during the game, but obviously things can flare up afterwards. I thought Hampshire played well at F/B, and I thought he was going pretty well at 7. I wouldn't have a problem with either today at F/B, but I think the team has benefitted over recent weeks because of a settled backline, I don't want to go back to Finn playing a couple, then back to Rocky in the halves. Also, what will CC do when Grix is fit, seen as he was first choice F/B before getting injured?!!
