I don’t know what else your club can do to attract fans you have a great squad play attractive rugby you haven’t been in the middle 8s for three years a CC semi you don’t have another pro club in Wakefield to compete with and people blame the ground but I’d much rather watch rugby at belle vue than the soulless Huddersfield stadium

Well, we've got to compete with Cas, Fev, Leeds. Bradford too when they were relevant. I know a few who went to BV when Glover were given freebies then switched to Cas when they started playing well:

Yeah but we have to compete Hull FC and Hull City in the same city when we went down to the championship in the same season Hull won the CC I think we still managed close to 7000 average in the championship I’ll never understand how people can switch the teams they support I know it happened a lot when Bradford were riding high

Always baffled me too. ----------------You can't say that on here---------- Poptart

As for your comment on the Hull area, I live in the west Hull villages and have lived in and around the Hull area since 1991 so know it pretty well. As you know Hull has one football team and two rugby teams with a very large geographical catchment area. I know plenty of people who follow both Hull City and a rugby team so effectively your rugby divide is only between 2 teams. Also I know of people from Goole and beyond who are life long FC fans. I think the dynamics of the Hull population catchment area and the competition is very different to the dynamics in West Yorkshire and the Calder area.

It is "Fifita" not "Fafita"

If you don't know the difference between "there", "their" and "they're" I might get annoyed.

I suppose we are isolated to a point and not a chance of overlapping like you do in West Yorkshire it’s either Hull or Rovers with Hull City if you fancy watching football although 2 coaches used to go to Leeds Utd every other week from Hull

Decent stadium it's that simple. Sure BV is good enough for most existing fans but new ones take some convincing. it's not that the stadium itself attract, it's that a good stadium allows you to capitalise and we just can't do that.

To put it another way BV only really attracts Trinity fans and hardcore opposition fans, what it doesn't do is attract people who just like to attend events if that makes sense.

My wife doesn't like RL or sport in general but she will go with me to watch a test match because she enjoys the spectacle. The only time BV ever looks remotely like a spectacle is the odd night match with a big crowd and even that is quickly exposed as a mirage.

Same applies to kids and interested newbies, they need more than just the RL on the pitch to attract them at the start, enjoying the game for what it truly is tends to takes time. I mean do you think Chelsea or Man U would wow people if their grounds were in a similar state of decay to BV?

Finally a bit of real success wouldn't go a miss, 1979 was the last major trophy we contested, so it's been a while. Even despite your own clubs frightening ups and downs you've been to Wembley a few times yourself since then which I think says it all.

If you want fickle, try going through Normanton on matchdays.
Not too long ago, there was a 50/50 split (Wakefield/Cas) in the colours that you would see, nowadays, it's all bright orange, with only a hardcore of Trinity fans there.
Although it's sad to admit it, Castleford have probably taken 1000-1500 off Wakefields gate.
Mind you this is still more palatable than the days when half of the RL fans in Wakefield became Bulls fans, that was depressing.

I know your new ground situation is a bit of a joke but couldn’t something be done along the lines of what Fev did they have a tidy little ground now without spending a fortune

Problem is we don't own Belle Vue, Fev own their ground.
