This is the norm now days with our culture of england,With so many different nationality living in our city these days some do want to embrace it and i for one are trying to get our foreign friends to come and watch the mighty trin, I've got 3 newbies coming to the Catalan game 1 pie-eater who as lived in wakefield since he was 10 and 2 Lithuanian lads who are very interested what the sport is, Point is we have just got to try to change the mind set of the Wakefield public that enjoying a Pro-sport in Wakefield on a sunday afternoon is a good social event to enjoy with there friends and maybe along the way Dangle the odd carrot with more Offers to entice them until they get the Bug.

Up The Trin
Though I get the point you and others are making these people are not the problem.
There are still plenty of folk Wakefield born and bread who simply don’t give a damn. If just 10% of those woke up and showed some pride in the City of their both we’d be fine.

They make me sick tbh.
You're tilting at windmills Vasty - the world has changed, and given that we're no longer confined to the city or town of our birth due to the massive upsurge in disposable income, transport infrastructure and information, I would suggest that young people in particular don't feel any special affinity to the town, city or even country they happen to have been born in - the world is much more open to them.
With regard to attracting more supporters to watch WT - the single biggest thing that could happen right now, would be a shiny new stadium that is accessible, has parking and is actually a pleasant, welcoming place to go; and once there, maybe a more suitable matchday experience that entails more than some kids dancing, and amateur teams parading round the touchline at half time. Interestingly, one of the biggest responses from a crowd to on-field entertainment that I've seen in a long time, was the LD match that was played at half-time at the Wire match - people seemed to really get behind that.

Really is my pet hate this. Not only are some people not proud to call Wakefield there home city, some people are actually ashamed. Coming away from sport for a minute, we have a wonderful city with rich history and all around is quite a pleasant place to be in my book. The only people that ruin it are the same people that talk it down...
I was watching an interview with a local band that I have followed for a while, 2 of them born and bred in Wakefield, they did an Interview with `MTV`after winning a competition and they started talking about been from Leeds and growing up there, at which point I lost a lot of respect for them and turned off.
Probably is really petty but has always really got on my nerves, don`t even get me started on the fake Wakefield-Rhino brigade.

Showing pride in the city has nothing to do with it, perhaps they have no interest in Rugby League? I could still show pride in Wakefield without supporting the club?

I know certain individuals that were born and grew up in Wakefield and who`s family have supported Trinity for years go buy a Leeds Rhinos season ticket, do they perhaps have no interest in rugby league?
I get what you are saying, some of it is lack of interest but we are smack bang in the middle of RL heartlands - We have amateur/junior clubs every few miles throughout the city, we play it in our schools there is no way the lack of interest in RL in the Wakefield area equates to our attendances.
I suppose success attracts a lot of fans, it`s quite plain to see that - Drive through Swillington/Allerton Bywater area 5 years ago you would see a lot of Rhinos shirts, if you drive through today everyone you see has a Cas shirt on! I do keep wondering how high there electric bill must be to put it in the washer and dryer every night

If so called fans are doing that then fair enough, before me and my Dad stopped talking because of the money issue he used to take me golfing a lot... a middle aged hard working man born and bred in Wakefield with not the slightest interest in Rugby League yet since he stopped giving me my allowance at 21 which he now donates the £30 per month to the Cathedral, does that not show pride in his religion, beliefs and City?

Just like you quoted about your mates who supported Leeds but now Cas, I'm just explaining that I know someone who consistently pumps some sort of money into something that involves Wakefield which is not rugby related yet shows pride in our city.

Don't you ever get bored of just spouting absolute dross??
Is it any wonder these boards are no longer used by a huge number of people?
