I dont think mr Carter will be running around like a blue ar$ed fly entertaining sponsor's! to hand the profits over to the snake of a landlord.

Fantastic Mr Catpiss wrote:Just out of interest, what does the benidorm flats bring in, in terms of hospitality money? does that go to trin or to the landlords?

Not sure how much money it generates in terms of profit, but having experienced it first hand not only is it very popular, but most enjoyable and worth every penny, and fwiw every team and it's officials what come to Bellevue look forward to the hospitality provided to them by the club, so I'm reliably informed :D

Unfortunately most of us work our booty off only to see most of it swallowed up by our mortgages, rent, bills etc it’s called living in the system .wherever we go or end up there will be rent/bills to pay, that’s just a fact of life. If anyone knows any different please let me know

Salary cap is way below where it should be. It can't stay low because some clubs can't afford it.
It shouldn't be so high that one club can just buy every good player like the Wigan glory days but if over half the teams can afford the cap spend then that's where it should be pitched.

Is it? Why? Where should it be? Why should it be there?

Isn't the marquee player rule also there to help teams technically get around the salary cap? What about the players of whom their wages are subsidised by the RFL?

Rugby League is on its way to becoming a sugar daddy sport. I don't necessarily see the issues with the rules as they are now. Is not been able to spend massive money on Australian imports a bad thing? Will it let young British players develop? If the quality of coaching improves then surely the players will improve? How many English players are playing in the NRL because they can get more money? Not exactly loads. Do we think raising the salary cap will keep the English players that have gone to the NRL in England?

I don't think it's clear cut in terms of what raising the salary cap will actually achieve in terms of improving the sport. I actually think the competition will become a lot less interesting and we'll see a split between clubs that have the financial power and those that don't - even more so than we do now. Do we want to go a similar way of the same clubs finishing in the top 5 every year like in football?

Sorry I came over to you like that Cheshire I can assure you it wasn’t meant to .
I just feel that because we don’t own our own stadium anymore whatever the landlord of wherever we end up will charge accordingly and we will have no say .How we can help pay towards the rent as a club is getting the buzz back in the club and get those stay away fans putting their hands in their pockets once more ,and I honestly believe one of the only ways is to get the team playing great rugby and winning more games .

Good post Adam

Just shows what a great job MC and CB have done with what money is available, and CC to work within what he is given and get what he does (sometimes) out of the players.
The whinos have not thrown massive amounts around recently and seem to be ok, again due to a coach getting the best out of what he as got.

To me, the game as bigger problems than the SC, it is losing its flair and becoming sterile, players cheating, the ruck is a mess, the obstruction rules, forward passes, referees all on the same page, are just some of the areas that need looking at.

If it wasnt for Wakefield Trinity my interest in the game would wane dramatically.

That sums it up nicely for me at present. I've felt it for a couple of years now & know a few blokes at work supporting a number of local clubs who feel the same!
