Let's put a positive spin on this, CC says we're talking to players, players want to come to Wakefield. MC said last night we will strengthen. All good news!

I think the big issue for us is our crowd, and certainly, a new stadium, or something concrete, no pun intended, on some positive progress could help the issue. A cup run may have helped too.
Didn't MC and Chessie say, in 2016 or 2017, that if our average gate went up to around 6500, we would spend the full cap. Bearing in mind this was cap back then, to bridge that gap now, that would be a bit higher.
In regards to the further increase in the cap, looking at the bigger picture for the sport, I think this needs to happen, if anything to try to reduce players wanting to go to union or the NRL, where the money is. The NRL is about double the cap over here, but given that a couple of years ago, NRL clubs collectively were running at a loss, I do think there cap was set too high

I was thinking purely from a maximization of the corporate side. Those one or two bottles of wine and or 4 or 5 pints might turn into 4 bottles of wine and or a gallon of ale!

Need more support which means spending money on promoting the club, something I know as a policy were not keen on given the unknown tangible benefits of doing so. A bigger supporter base also makes the club a more attractive proposition for businesses to sponsor which helps grow the commercial aspect. Of course the elephant in the room is improved facilities also.

How is it the solution to our ills, that is often claimed?
Ultimately it means the same players getting paid more. It's needs to massively rise to prevent players going to RU/NRL for monetary reasons, which by the sounds of it it isn't. I don't begrudge the players getting more cash as it's a tough sport and being rewarded for the is only fair, but it certainly isn't going to make it better with the small increase.
