Dont know about the "very well" but, he didnt get bullied by the Pies and over the years, the so called "bigger teams" have always seemed to gain advantage from their "status".
The penalties, in our favour, particularly in the first half certainly helped us get on the front foot.
Wigan, as usual, were putting in plenty of high shots which quite often they get away with but at least Child stood firm.
Penalties for back chatting are a breath of fresh air and if they remain consistent with this, we'll all enjoy the game a hell of a lot more.

we even got a penalty against us for back chatting as Fifita had the ball punched out on the tackle, he got that one wrong but had the balls to not allow back chat, had we lost the game then that would of been a high lighted

Refs have been getting a lot of (unfair) stick, more so in recent years than I can ever remember in more than 30 years of following the sport.

Overall they are human and make mistakes, maybe a handful each game. The lack of consistency in approach by them all is a frustration but I figure I have to accept that as their personal style of reffing.

Good to see some acknowledgement of the ref from last night. It would be nice if fans in general (not just Wakey fans) gave refs more credit especially on social media.

It is very rare that a team loses due to a bad decision by the ref although decisions can influence the momentum of the game. For example last night Child missed Escare punching the ball out of Fifita's hands. It should have been a penalty to Wakefield but a knock on was given. From the resulting play in the next few minutes Wigan got 2 tries. It was Wakefield's defence's fault that we let in those tries with some tired tackling (especially from one player who I won't name). However the error in the decision swung the momentum which led to the opportunity for the 2 tries.

Fair play to Child and the refs in general. There are still some I dislike more than others but I like to think that I'm not completely biased when I watch my team play.

It is "Fifita" not "Fafita"

If you don't know the difference between "there", "their" and "they're" I might get annoyed.

Give me any other ref before Child though, regardless of last night's performance.

Overall it was a good performance - with a couple of errors; much like almost every player on the pitch. I still think that the touchies don't help the ref enough - there's no way that one of them doesn't see the ball being reefed out, but the only time a touchie raises his flag is when that touchie happens to also be a ref. Or TV Tony.

On balance though, if you're looking for consistency, that was probably about as good as you'll get when the game is being managed by a single human being with just the two eyes, inconveniently located on the front of his head.

I’ll always credit the ref if he’s done well these days. Not to say I always have done but having realised what I was teaching my lad to think about match officials I had a good look at my own behaviour.

He pinged Wigan for everything last night and also when we were under the cosh end of the first half he rightly pinged us too. Both sides penalised for mouthing off – excellent work. Though I’ve complained on Child’s seemingly ‘pedantic’ nature before I’ve always had a great deal of respect for him carrying on with the officiating when he’s been on the end of some really unpleasant abuse. There's been a few who have walked away last couple of years and we don't want to see that.

Are we seeing too much of Mr Child down at Belle Vue? I don't know the facts and figures but he seems to be reffing us whilst other refs don't get a look in.

He's a senior ref now, and one of the most experienced - so that being a TV game and having the potential to be a bit salty, it seems like a sensible appointment.

When you are struggling to keep up you give penalties away. That's the team not he ref.
Tonight it was Wigan.

Not looked into Sky games or not but
17 –Wigan J Child
16- Widnes – R Hicks
15 – Huddersfield - J Child
14 – Hull KR - J Child
13 – Cas – R Hicks
12 – Salford- J Child
11- St Helens - G Hewer
10 – Leeds – C Kendal
9 – Hull – L Moore
8 – Cas – J Childs
7 – Warrington – J Childs
6- Widnes – Snow unknown
5 – Wigan C Kendal
4 – Hudds – Unknown
3 – Catalan – G Hewer
2 – Salford – J Child
1 – Hull KR – C Kendal

J Child = 7 C Kendal = 3 Hicks = 2 Hewer – 2 Moore – 1

So we have had the pleasure of Mr Child nearly as many times as we haven't

The refs always do well when we win ;)

Disappointed in Fifta giving that penalty away for back chat when we were in control, just shut up and get on with it.
