That's the key word allegedly, There are those that believe the promises made by the council and those that don't believe a word of it, if Shaw Lane have been encouraged to move to Bellevue by manniwotsisface then it's more likely to be the latter, they looked at moving down to Worsboro Dale but apparently it wasn't big enough, on that basis it looks like there might be something in it only time will tell, maybe a case of that old mathematical problem where 2+2=5 who knows or cares really.
Just been talking to an older bloke in Thornes Park, as my daughter is doing a project for school, which involves approaching visitors and asking them if they have a spare couple of minutes to complete a questionnaire about the park.
Anyway, he got on the subject of sporting facilities in and around the city and mentioned golf. Apparently Wakefield golf course used to be situated on Heath Common. I don't know if people on here know this. I'm sure some will, and some won't. I didn't.
With this, and Neil Fox Way, could that area still be developed, as it has previously been used for sporting facilities. Surely a site here would be more suitable

That big house in front of the jip-ho's is called The Old Clubhouse isn't it still? It comes up for sale every now and then.
This world was never meant for one as beautiful as me.

There'll be no room for sporting facilities along Neil Fox Way when they've finished with the housing developments down there Eastern. Have you seen the extent of the excavations taking place now? All along the road you can see where they've already allowed provision for new entrance roads into new housing projects. Yes, there was a golf course down there and te solitary building that stands there is the old club house. There was also a pub there called The Jolly Sailor: so called because the Barnsley canal ran past it.
Up to today Redscat, I had only been on the road once having not had the need to.
I went up there on a bike ride earlier, and yes, I did notice.
It was more a thought than anything, thinking location, and that area had previously been used for sport and leisure, that it may have been a more viable option than either Newmarket or Belle Vue

Agree 100% Eastern. The old power station site would have been absolutely perfect with plenty of car park space and a stones throw from our spiritual home!!!
