Johnson good enough for the England squad but not good enough for Wakey first team, sums up this club.

It does indeed sum up the club.
I read that as no matter who you are, if you have a bad game you are at risk from losing your place. Tom himself accepted he made mistakes and MCB was a worthy replacement on previous form.

Tom isn't here to get his England place, he is here to win as many games for Wakefield as he can. If it get's him in the England team then great, but on current form, all be it good for club level, he isn't going to be bumping Hall out of his position. Tom at his best is worthy of his place in the England squad. It doesn't mean he is guaranteed a place.

Saying that, I'd pick him at 80% given MCBs showing last time out.

No Wakefield lads in England Academy squad. Should save CC selection problems in the future.

Only Salford and Catalans share our lack of representation. 3rd tier Bradford manage 2!

Is anyone able to say which amateur clubs the players came from? I always like to see where they actually come from rather than where they’ve been signed to play.

Agree with you Steady, I’ve no doubt like me you think quite a few will be from this neck of the woods.

I hope so. Genuinely like to support local lads, regardless of their chosen colours - though obviously would prefer it the best went to Cas ;)!!

I don't know our kids well enough.
Do we have players who were unlucky to miss out or do we just not have this e type of players in this batch.

Results haven’t been too kind for them but yes, there are some good kids there and with the scholarship under Mash improving all the time hopefully more Wakey players will be involved in the England set up in the near future.

I’ve been watching RL for all my life and the young versus old debate has never abated. Frankly it’s impossible to tell whose right - the coach will appear right if the team wins but if they don’t then people will say he should have picked experience over youth or vice virsa - problem is it’s all hyperthetical.

Coaches will always go with what they know. It’s a tough one where your lad is concerned because Batchelor appeared from nowhere so to speak and I can’t think of many coaches who will run with two 20 year old backrowers. Chester has made a choice I suppose but he has a lot to chose from - Horo, Anakin, Ashurst, Batchelor and PP and Arona - it’s a very competitive position and they can all argue there case with only Kirmond truly struggling.

To me it’s such a shame tha A team RL isn’t more competive. Best will in the world when a player goes out on loan they are a bit out of site out of mind - tricky one.

I think over all CC record with young players is reasonable imo without being stunning but he’s never going to please everyone unfortunately.
