Not sure that it will achieve larger attendances, ticket sales were very slow for the forthcoming Denver test.

There are 2 issues here.

The first one, of expanding RL into new territory is a great idea and every RL fan should want the sport to be played in as many countries as possible and I'm ok with that and hope it's a success and as others havce said, surely this is the whole point of having such an "event" ?

However, there are massive question marks around having Toronto, New York or whoever, competing in SL.
I't's a logistical nightmare.

As regards fans attending games, unfortunately, we are just dressing within the stadia.
The sport sold out to TV when SL was formed and IF the fans were anywhere near the top of the priority list, we'd all be playing games on a Sunday afternoon and not fighting Friday evening traffic over the Pennines etc

It's not about the fans, it's not even about the sport, it's all about the money.

If they move it to New York they can shove it up their Aris' as I'll have no hope of attending. It's family trip for us and the mrs is a teacher so we'd have no chance of getting the time off.

What would a Cockney know about rugby league?

Seems a bit crazy, wait until SL or even RL is established there first, by all means let Leeds, Wigan etc. go there for a game as they did in Australia but not Magic w/end.

I'd really like them to give Dublin a try.

This world was never meant for one as beautiful as me.

Dublin makes more sense, given their rugby union and gaelic football background and the relatively close proximity. A flight to Dublin and a train to Newcastle are fairly similar.

They (the RFL) are trying to stoke up interest in the sport and with all due respect to Wigan and Leeds, The Magic Weekend does have a bit more razzmatazz than a one off game.
Remember, this has got sod all to do with whether the regular fans can get there, it's about spreading the gospel to new places.

Dublin would make a great Magic weekend but, there isnt anyone trying to promote the game over there.
New York are trying to set up a club to compete in SL ??
(as mentioned, I still dont think that N. America fits into SL and should the game expand over there, neither will Wakefield, as we will be well and truly left behind but, IF the sport is hell bent on having a presence over there perhaps this is the right thing ?)

Agree that this is about growing the sport over there, but it's the regular fans that would be punished by taking the magic weekend to another continent.

Perhaps better to have a pre-season cup over there, football style?

I'd go as far to say that it's the fans who create the razzmatazz
