No he is just good. Spends too much time injured and goes missing at times. You could also argue that we arnt exactly an attacking masterclass with him on the field either - now compare him to Barba who is an excellent player and is the catalyst for Saints being top of the league
Hes our only real running attacking threat near the line. Great tackler as well for a half back. No chance of replacing him with similar quality, so hope we manage to retain him.

If you were going to bracket SL players equally into Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor and Very Poor and say clubs have roughly 30 players in a squad, that would put 120 players above Kelly. Not sure I'd agree. Comparing him only to Barba who's here in fairly unusual circumstances playing behind an excellent pack is a bit unfair IMO. Kelly was in my top 3 FC players this year and with Watts gone is a standout for us IMO. Just an opinion.

Since he joined us he's played more games than Houghton, Talanoa, Tuimavave and Manu, just a couple fewer than Sneyd and only one fewer than Taylor.
He missed five last season but one of them was compassionate leave.

I think we might have a few weeks to ascertain just how we do manage without him now though!

Injury prone?
Played 29 games last year.
10/13 this year, due to a head knock.
If we can, have to keep him, one of he best players in the league, if pack play is fantastic. Having him fit and in form gives us a chance on winning something this season and in the near future.

... and 3 this season for a bad concussion.
It's odd how players are now becoming "injury prone". Mini was classed as such before he'd even missed his first game in 9. Talanoa's another one who's only missed 1 this season.
Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?
