My problem with Patton isn't purely about ability it's the fact that he goes missing for large parts of the game, leaving his HB partner exposed and reducing the attack to a predictable one-trick pony.

He doesn't demand the ball or take a game by the scruff of the neck he just dissapears. Brown gets slated on here but even when it's not going well for him and the team he doesn't hide.

And don't say that's a sign of Patton's youth/inexperience. I've seen younger players than him pushing international teams round the pitch.

This is it.....I've only ever questioned this about him.
He has the ability because we've all seen it.
I honestly think he feels his role is to shadow a more senior player and support rather than dictate.
Has lacks the nerve not the skill.
He needs to take control over a game and order Brown not vise versa.
A halfback has to become the on field captain regardless who the official skipper is.

Yes, I’d love to know how the other top clubs get their most promising juniors to develop into world class players, yet the few we’ve had seem to fall away into oblivion. Well, Leigh anyway.

I can't think of many halfbacks that have come through the ranks at Warrington since Parry Gordon...... Martin Crompton, Warren Ayres, Rocky Turner & Paul Bishop & Gareth O'Brien.

We've all seen it? I can assure you that I haven't.

Let's explore it with a thought exercise.

Would your, then boss, be happy for the company's results to falter whilst you got up to speed - would the shareholders be equally happy? Or was it the case that you could be allowed the time to develop without effecting the performance of the company?

This is the tough decision for Price. Patton would have to have a remarkable uplift in ability and performance to be a credible first choice halfback for a top 4 side in my view.

In my case I had the theory bu not the practical experience. There has to be "on the job" training. The job of the boss is to stretch you, knowing there will be the occasional stuff up, with quite serious consequences, but that was what they took on. I wasn't thrown in to the most serious stuff straight away, that would have been disastrous for all involved. Compare that to a young player who is still finding their feet only to have to play full matches in a failing team due to injury. Then magnify it because any mistakes are made in front of a large audience where a large proportion (away matches) are willing you to fail.
That is why we shouldn't be too quick to condemn.

Just my opinions unless it's a FACT, in which case it's a fact.

I definitelt feel I've seen Dec patton do some good things and he played well when sandow was injured in 2016. He does definitely have some improving to do right now though, as mentioned earlier he has gone missing a bit too much when he played at the start of this season.

Is he out of contract? heard amongst 'agent talk' that Hudds are wanting him and are looking for a loan deal then permanent.
Any go in that?

Not heard that.
Price did say at the start of the season Patton is very much in his plans.

His contract ends Nov 2018, so maybe a loan for the balance of the season ahead of signing him.
