Back in contention now isn't he?

We have won 4/5 without him and are scoring points. (122 last 5 games ~ 24 points per game)

For me he doesnt get back in the side at the moment.

Patton like Roberts & Brown will need time to adapt to a new structure, he's no Lee Briers, he needs that structure around him. Because of that, I haven't written him off like some seem to have - not saying that you have btw.

However, he obviously doesn't get near the 13 at present and despite my concerns, Clark doing the 80 is working well, and enables us to have a pretty monstrous bench in Philbin, Crosby, BMM & Akouala.

So no, he needs to spend some time on the training paddock and show that he is ready when injury occurs, as his only shot for a spot is if Roberts or Brown get injured, they are playing too well currently.

He wont be back in the team until we have an injury in the halfs or there is an injury doubt. He was in the match day squad due to Tyrone's fitness issue early doors. Now Tyrone and Kev Brown are cooking on gas, not much of a look in.

We will probably see him next in the Challenge Cup

He will have to be patient like one or two other players. The club is in a good position at the moment. Let's enjoy it while we can.

Patton has done absolutely nothing to justify a place on the bench let alone a place in the 13. I'd rather have Livett in the halves.

The team is going well, the halves are starting to gel so why change it? If he was ripping it up before his ban then yes fine, but he wasn't so that's that.

Incidentally, I am one of the ones writing him off.

As I've posted about competition for places....but in this case there now is none in the halves.
While Patton early form was better than Brown and Roberts, we've seen Brown get what he's only ever needed...a dominant pack to work behind...and ever steady improvement from Roberts who has now surpassed with VAT where Patton was ever at.

I cannot see Patton even get a sniff at the bench other than a call up vs Bradford. Is there another kid coming through with more potential than Patton?

Think this is unfair on Patton. You are comparing his form in early season when no one played well against Browns form now. The pack is doing well allowing the halves time. Wouldn’t fairness dictate that we should judge Patton against the same circumstances (with allowance for considerably less experience)?

Do you not think 47 games is enough to judge Patton on? I think we all know deep down he is nowhere near good enough for a title aspiring side. It's almost like the Emporers Clothes sometimes on here. If he was an Aussie import he would have been crucified on here.

Anyhow this season is make or break for him at Wire as he is out of contract. If I was a betting man I think he's going the same way as a few others -> Championship.

I think we should be alarmed ,if Patton is Championship fodder ,that we are not producing enough quality from within. By all accounts Kev Brown's days are numbered & there isn't an endless supply of quality from overseas. Once the first team is sorted out ,the club needs to concentrate on improvements in our youth & academy structure to provide players for the future.

I don't....Time is where circumstance meets effectiveness.
How effective the player is alters the circumstance.
