It's looking like all the Sky TV money will be retained by the top 20 clubs from 2020 season onwards. The rest of the clubs will get nothing and become amateur clubs.

To avoid this fate, Keighley Cougars:

1. HAS to win promotion this season
2. HAS to meet the ground criteria for the Championship in 2019 (so A LOT of money is needed for serious stadium development) and
3. HAS to finish in the top half of the Championship in 2019

The stadium improvements required https://keighleycougars.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/stand-2.png have gone nowhere in 5 years because the club cannot get the funding.

Why?

Because to get public funding, as well as making out a strong case, a club:

1. HAS to have no single individual owning more than 50% of the club
2. HAS to have a minimum of three properly appointed directors and
3. HAS to publish full, audited accounts every year.

Keighley Cougars fails on all three counts. This has to be rectified FAST - or the club goes amateur in two years time.

The coach, his staff, our players and the supporters and volunteers deserve the right off field backing now to avoid the worst happening.

It's to be hoped the club has the right calibre of sponsor to make the right things happen.

Looks like a 'Community Club' could be the only way!

After being 24-6 up at half time we lose 28-24! PATHETIC!

What is wrong?

Quite simple this team isn't good enough.
Last season we leaked and average of nearly 30 points per game.
We started this season on the same foot.
With a crowd of less than 300 today how can a team put together on there budget possibly be competitive against us.
All we are is a team of journey men with the odd exception.
Is this the coaches fault because this basically his team.
I presume he has chosen these players so if we fail does it fall at his feet.
If it does where do we go from here as he's been given a contract extension but I'm scratching my head as to why because we are in no better position than when Paul March was in charge.
No one more than me hopes Craig turns this round but with all the penalties we concede and the defensive frailties we have 5th is best we can hope for.
I hope I'm eating these words come the end of the regular season.

Average age of the squad is 24. Some young journey men then if this was the case.

I can tell you for a FACT that the Championship and League One clubs voted 26-0 against any suggested changes to central funding and prize money last week.

Maybe a young team but all we've signed are players from championship 1 clubs or Super league reserves.
Our pack was out musseled, enthused or whatever you want to call it.
If we front up against better teams questions need to be asked why.
As fans we pay good money to watch them they have a duty to preform to the best of there capabilities.
It will have cost most fans with travel at least £40 maybe more to watch that.
The players got paid to play like that.
Doesn't take a lot of working out what I'm saying

Yesterday's result was nothing new, away form cost us big time last season and has to be the number one concern for me. Home advantage obviously plays a part but I can't understand for the life of me why we are so bad on the road.

Because it's not just about how much you pay your players, it's how they are valued and looked after and motivated - North Wales is actually a better club, it's galling to say, than Keighley Cougars at the moment.

North Wales Crusaders has an all for one and one for all team spirit from the board of directors through the players and staff and through to the fans.

North Wales Crusaders has:-

A proper board of (EIGHT) directors
https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/09873155/officers

A full Time General Manager
http://www.northwalescrusaders.co.uk/staff/

A positive and mutually beneficial relationship with local amateur clubs
http://www.northwalescrusaders.co.uk/crusaders-confirm-junior-structure-pathway-plans/

A fantastic youth set-up
http://www.northwalescrusaders.co.uk/youth-section/

and directors who put money into the club.

Cougars need to sort out the things suggested

and things would improve massively from there

As has every team in our division with the exception of Bradford and Workington.

Mr Hicks wrote:Our pack was out musseled, enthused or whatever you want to call it.

All their tries except one was scored down the North Wales right edge, hence why their centre had a hat-trick and the Man of the Match, I wouldn't say the pack was out musseled or enthused.

Mr Hicks wrote:If we front up against better teams questions need to be asked why.

The term "better team" can't be used for League One anymore. There is easily 11 teams who can get promoted this season and we are one of them.

Mr Hicks wrote:As fans we pay good money to watch them they have a duty to preform to the best of there capabilities.

So what you're saying is you expect perfection every single week? You've never had a bad day at work? It's the second game of the season, calm yourself down.

Mr Hicks wrote:It will have cost most fans with travel at least £40 maybe more to watch that.

We have the best following support in this division as far as I'm concerned and even from the press box it makes me feel pride to look out of the box or window to see that quite a few times in this division we match or outnumber the home support.

Mr Hicks wrote:The players got paid to play like that.

We had a bad 40 minutes, it cost us and saw us knocked out of the Challenge Cup. The lads didn't go out and lose on purpose. It cost them winning pay as a result.

The trouble is 'Hello Trouble' that those of us who have been supporting Keighley and the Cougars since the 1960's and before, have seen it all, despite what you say; 'what goes around comes around' to coin a phrase.

What is the problem with the Cougars becoming a 'Community Club' just like North Wales Crusaders with a true 'Board of Directors' instead of the shambles that it appears to be at present?

Please remind the 'faithful' who actually owns the Club which we have supported through thick and thin for over 50 years (in my case)?

It's easy to discover at Companies House if you don't.

Could that be the problem as 'CHC' suggests?
