Squad numbers are out at last - they're about what you'd expect. Carney has preferred to stay as number 36, leaving number 2 vacant for now. As we're still planning on bringing a couple more players before the season starts, I guess one will take that shirt - presumably a back. Update the Club Records page now please, Rovers.

I Was wondering if Tim says we are getting two players is one the French guy on trial and a half back to support danny McGuire and Atkins, has for number 2 squad number do they have to have a number 2 cos Justin Carney will be playing that position just different number on back

I do wonder, after so many signings turned sour for so many varied reasons in the latter part of our first spell in Super League, whether we've become instinctively pessimistic about actual or potential new players.
I find myself doing it tbh. When we were linked with Jason Clark, and seeing how he was described by people who watch the NRL, I immediately imagined him as a good honest pro... getting run over by bigger more aggressive players. But then I see a rumour about Gareth Hock, and Ryan Bailey comes immediately to mind. The capture of Danny McGuire is quite a coup, but a few people already seem to be preparing psychologically for him 'doing a Campese', wondering who we'll partner with Atkin from round 6 onwards.

Would you prefer me (and everyone else) to just tow the party line and say it’s all looking great? Old Trafford here we come.
I am not saying you cannot make your point. Just feel someone who purports to support the club should use more different language.

I guess you don't have to use any number - we've retired 6, a couple of clubs don't use 18. But it'd be a little odd - if it'd be 'too much too soon' for Oakes or Dagger or Williams, then it could have been given to Moss.
Glad to see Kavanagh's excellent contribution in 2017 recognised with the 13 shirt (fwiw).

And I agree about Kavanagh, also looking forward to seeing Donaldson and co come back from injuries. And the slimmed down masoe and even seeing Tommy lee and walme prove doubters wrong

Which different language would you have me use? I have extremely limited vocabulary so I’m open to suggestion.
No, you don’t have to use a different language. English is fine. Even if you have a limited vocabulary there are lots of short words you can use without using derogatory ones.
I reckon the powers that be at rovers know that we'll be moving to a bigger SL in 2019 so are happy to bid their time in the knowledge that even if you finish bottom your place is secure

Well this so called supporter will be popping along to watch today, unlike 4-5000 who will rock up against Wakefield go join in the chorus of ‘Rovers till I Die’.
I look forward to being pleasantly surprised by several players today who I appear to have prematurely written off.
