Can understand people wanting Powell but does his showings in crunch games let him down? I'd also think it'd be very hard to get England playing like Cas given the short amount of time and games he'd have with the players.
Indeed. International coaches are different to club coaches. They arent together all the time working on things and improving players. Powell won't get England attacking like Cas just by spending a few weeks per year with them. An international coach needs to get his tactics right, pick the right team that is best suited to how he wants to play, motivate and man manage, and deal well with the media. There is very little actual coaching to be done.
I'm not saying Powell wouldn't be a good option btw, but anyone thinking that we just need to bring in Powell and we will start scoring for fun will end up disappointed.
