I was a big fan and admirer of Steve as a player. Was privileged to get to know him when we coached our sons at Hull Ionians mini rugby. Great player, great bloke and great friend. I am absolutely stunned that you are no longer with us Steve

Can only echo others sentiments - saw him play in the early 80s and was a pleasure to watch. RIP Steve and condolancies to the family
A fellow FC told me something about him tonight - in the three test series of 82 (i think) against Oz we only scored try against them and it was scored by Steve Evans

He used to have a health food shop on Anlaby Road and I remember going in as a 13 year old girl in 1985 asking him to sign Wembley stuff for me. One if my favourites of that era. Rip Steve.

I recall visiting PO Road (early 2000's I think?) Steve was Chairman of Fev, he was a great host and entertained us with a few good tales of his career....
R.I.P Steve Evans ,used to love watching him in the 80s flying down the wing ,remember his sports shop on Anlaby road too
