How does he get his confidence back if he's dropped? I'm Not arguing for him to retain his place in the squad, which should always been down to form. But I can't see being dropped will help him regain his confidence unless we can loan him out.

Precisely this. He needs to face Burgess and make sure Watkins and Ward protect him. We need to put pressure on Leuluai because he'll do exactly what Sneyd did last week.
Mac has said numerous occasions this season, that he would not make the mistake of bringing a player back from injury to early so it does not aggravate problem or cause another injury ..unless he really has to... In past when Briscoe was injured he was injured ..Mac not said anything on shoulder so ,until he mentions it ,I do not see that as the issue. So that for me would mean it was a confidence issue.
However, I would site a number of other issues for ages Watkins and Briscoe tried to pull off this fancy passing game..it never happened and Watkins would frequently over cook his pass and it end up in touch...There was an occasion think towards end of last season where Briscoe was on inside and he passed to Watkins on the wing who then went over to score. When Watkins was injured he went to centre with Handley on the wing...they did what the normal pairing had tried for ages..only Handley passed it back to Briscoe who then fed it for Parcell to score. That happened in another match where again Briscoe fed Parcell to score. So part of the problem could be down to lack of service..and the frustration has been getting to him.
Someone mentioned Wembley, and Rivett syndrome...for me it is further than that. You got to look at the match as well, even amongst our own fans. After match was talking to some fans and they stated they were embarrassed by the match and scoreline .
Why ? Hull KR got there by beating Wigan, Catalan and then Wire...so they were there on full merit. Rhino as a squad were working brilliantly for each other..they made KR make errors. Also had been a long time since Rhinos had nilled a side. On Briscoe himself, not only did he score 5 tries which was a record...my view it rivals Offiah's try...same distance but because Offish is a legend of game his try will be remembered..yet Briscoe's for me was more impressive. It was raining , he intercepted the ball ,catching it in mid air before springing of to race down the other end..So far better. The other impressive factor was he scored 3 tries in under 7 mins. Which for me is my method of saying if team is behind...the match not over until the whistle blows.
My point is don't think he is fully appreciated even by Rhinos fans. I have said it before but players are not ignorant of what goes on social media so negativity won't help him either. `Mac could drop him but that didn't work last time and he looked forlorn. It would be cruel of Mac to name him in 19 but drop him for match.
There is also the issue of is he staying as Mac said in an interview that Briscoe wanted to finish season on a high..was that hint of end..Maybe there is loyalty on Mac's side hence inclusion..In which case best way to boost confidence is to remind Briscoe of what he achieved at Wembley and in other matches. However that does not solve frustration of poor delivery...as for catches he needs more practise...bomard him with high balls in training ...then substitute a ball with something he would not want to drop...he would catch cleaner.

he is appreciated but he's been awful for a good season. nowhere have I seen him being slagged off nastily, unless I missed something. most have had sympathy. anyone who's played any sport at any level knows what he's going through. he simply should not be picked because, sadly, he's a liability

Spot on.
If this was a goalkeeper in football dropping clanger after clanger the manager would remove him from the firing line until he felt he had built up the confidence to go again. Same for Tom, all the league know our right side is a weak spot and will bombard him with kicks from now on, i find it hard to see how he just suddenly deals with it from here. He is in the squad though so looks like he will carry on for now but for me if he costs us more games it falls at the door of the coach from here.
Am I the only one who is more worried about the lack of kick pressure and then blockers than Briscoes ability?
Sneyd was actually walking with the ball in hand before he kicked it at that weekend - he had an absolute age to pick his kick and hit them sweet.
Sure, Briscoe had a shocker (and is out of form long term), but it's a team game, and his mates badly let him down. If you see your mate having a shocker like that, the least you'd do is make sure the kicker was put under pressure and finish on his backside every time, and as his immediate inside man, you'd be blocking anything coming through - legally or illegally. His team mates hung him out to dry, and if I was the coach, I'd have read them the riot act publically - Briscoe would be getting a private word about why I've supported him publically, and what I expect in return!
