You can see walkers hands trying to clasp the ball to prevent it being grounded. The probability is that fonua tried to rip his hand free from the fullbacks grasp to ground the ball and in the conditions the ball squirmed out.
Black and white specs will say it was ripped, blue and Amber will say it was lost.
This happens a lot in open play, when the ball carrying arm is smothered by the defender and in trying to get the arm free to offload the ball squirms out. The ref will nearly always give a knock on, unless there is a specific batting or ripping motion from the defender.
One of those things I'm afraid, I'm sure you'll get return serve in the semi.
