We lost some big game players in JP, Sinfield ,Kylie, Aiton and more recently Hardaker who have not yet been replaced to their high standards maybe with the exception of Aiton/Parcell.
You have kept the squad relatively in tact bringing in Cooper and swapping Brown for Sandow.
Maybe the team has got stale and needs a shake up or Smith`s tactics no longer inspire the squad.
I don`t think you become a bad team overnight especially as your team has not changed that much.

But it was not really that good to start with ... last year was a huge flop for us last year was a terrible season through out not just ourselves but it was jus poor all around and we still could not manage to beat Wigan in the gf and lost the cc final after being ahead some will see getting to a final as being a good year ask yourselves would Wigan saints Leeds and even Bradford in their peak be happy losing in a final ???? Why should we because we've not won it for years ???? Does that make the coach immune from criticism or in a job for life ?

I don't disagree with you Dezzzie I'm just pointing out that we were going through the same as you are doing now.
And I can understand the fans frustration. Smith like McDermott last year deserves the flak he is getting. It goes with the job. Not sure he will walk unless he is pushed again just like McDermott last year.

I think a major difference is that it was sort of expected that you would struggle with so much influence being lost with the players who left. We (or certainly me) actually believed we were stronger going in to this season than last season. Mcdermott had it really tough losing so many experienced heads that were still key players, Smith doesn't have that excuse.

I know sandow left and he played a major part at the start of the season but by the end of it we had played a lot of game time without him and still won the hubcap and made both finals. Brown has been woeful but Wayne Bennett is no mug and he has selected brown for elite squad. It's a coaching issue at wire, not playing personnel.

Smith has served you well- but perhaps it's just that it's stale-been there too long. Smith and briers should both go IMO. Briers should experience rugby outside of Warrington for his own sake.
It's been said before that smith has one style of man management that doesn't suit everyone. Big Eorl- the most laid back guy in RL- almost quit the game to join the police force because of him.
