I've visited the area and the memorials in the past and to be honest the sheer scale of the losses is a bit overwhelming. There are literally 100's of cemeteries with 1000's upon 1000's of graves and memorials with tens of thousands of names of those who's bodies were never recovered. Well worth a visit for anyone who is spending time or passing through northern france
