Went into Oppy wood itself courtesy of Marc and Cecile Dupres, the current land owners. Met loads of lovely people from Oppy, was well attended by people from Hull, Oppy and further afield.
Ceremony was moving with all the names read out who had fallen and despite the heavy rain throughout (In any kind of weather right!!) everyone was steadfast, the old guard did everyone and the East Yorks AKA Hull Pals)proud.
So glad to have being there.

Back to Blighty today. 5 days over here. Oppy Wood service was very moving, even though it pelted down, the vicar kept going, reading the names of all the fallen. Got some pics and a short video but can't upload to photobucket. And yes, hope the era of "canon fodder" never returns!!!!!

I was scanning the Look North coverage but didn't see two men in white coats either side of you in the rain.

a select few, excuse the poor pics at the service, left memory card in my lappie and only had phone AND it was bucketing down. I had to raise my hand above the brollies to get some of the actual ceremony.
