The thing is that, we were doing somewhat better than "managing" within the EU and regardless of anyone's views on Brexit, we have voted for "the unknown".

Of course, life goes on and it wont be the end of the world but, IF things are worse on the "outside" and/or, we have another recession, what was the point ?
Was it to be captain of the Titanic ?, all of the passengers on there, set off on a journey of discovery, on an unsinkable ship.

Ultimately the decision, voted for by a small majority (of those who could be bothered to vote) was brought about by a few disaffected right wing politicians.

Lets just hope they were right and not just on some kind of power trip.

What if we are better off out? Why is that so unlikely? A large part of this country's success derived from our legal system, which is being eroded by EU membership. I ask you - if you think the USA would have become so rich and powerful if it had gone the French way rather than the British a few hundred years ago. What about Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong?

The election just got more interesting, the right wing press - Sun, Mail, etc laying into May saying she'll increase foreign aid, stop pensions increasing, tax the middle class, etc. I suppose they're trying to force her hand on policy but surely she can't do yet another U-turn and be considered a credible leader. Corbyn should get up North and S otland on the stump and on social media. He could win yet.

May has called the election mainly because she will win it. She as most people agree ,know that once brexit negotiations start things will become extremely unpleasant. So she has the luxury of five years to weather the storm.
It would be ironic if she won the election with a similar majority as she enjoys at the moment. It strikes me somewhat strange that she is being criticised for brexit as a Tory ,when it's the country as a whole that's instigated brexit.
I still think leaving the EU will be a disaster, Farrage, Johnson , Liam fox plus gove and several others must be hopeful that things go well. If things go pear shape the public and the popular press will absolutely tear into them.

We have 23 months left to negotiate leaving the European union, and she's decided to waste 2 of those months on an election when the Tories are already in power. To me, it shows that May and the rest couldn't give a toss about the people they're meant to serve.
It's been a shambles from the government so far. All they've done is reel out the soundbite about 'strong and stable leadership' (although, they've created a 5hit load of instability by calling this election), but they've not done much talking on policy,

Nothing will happen on negotiations until after the German election in October so I can't see that she is wasting any time. I do think something does need to be done otherwise the team doing the negotiating simply don't have any solid platform to start from.

As soon as the election is over things will settle down and then the government can get on with the business of leaving the EU with a good as deal as they can

Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

Corbyn will NEVER win a GE, NEVER.

Europe will play a massive part in the GE and we could see the Tories start to split (over what kind of Brexit they want) but, there is nobody else capable of running the country, which is a crying shame. :DEPRESSED:

Tony Blair, who will never be forgiven for his part in the middle east conflict, at least, understood that, your party's policies have to have mass appeal (even if that meant moving to the centre of the political spectrum).
Corbyn seems to think that going back to the 1930 will be good for the country.
He is just plain deluded and is already moving to protect his position as party leader, rather than rallying centre-left political support.

It just shows that she knows her majority of 18 will be decimated if the 30 Tory MP's who are facing criminal charges over election fraud are charged; this is a cynical move designed to get the election home and hosed just before the cases go to court.

Corbyn typifies everything about Labour , stuck in the dark ages, jealous of anyone with success, wants a handout society funded by people that work hard. He cant even give a decent speech, press conference etc. The days of politicians "serving" anyone but themselves are long gone. Westminster would make some great appartments, move the lot to an industrial estate in Slough, then see what politicians actually want to do the job, stop paying a silly salary, imagine how much 10 Downing Street could be sold for...
