2016 aggregate SL attendance 1.5million, 1949-50 season... 69.8 million though I know there were 29 teams playing 36 games each plus top 4 play-off plus one presumes this includes cup comps too, still incredible.
Not denying that that is a huge difference, but I would imagine today's attendances are a lot more accurate due to electronic scanners and people not being able to climb over fences etc. 70 million people is huge though!
