I was finally forced to watch 50 Shades of Grey at the weekend, in preparation for a trip to see the new one; and what a gaping anus of a film it was. Turgid, misogynistic, appallingly acted, and about as erotic as a kick in the balls with a muddy welly. A genuinely dreadful 1/10.

Sully - Great film based on the true story 2009 Miracle of Hudson. Goes into a lot more depth to what happened and the aftermath of the crash. PS - Tom Hanks is his usual brilliant self so definitely worth a watch. 9/10.

The Great Wall Went hoping for a beautifully filmed historical saga about chins fighting Hans or mongols. Instead got crouching tiger hidden dragon crossed with aliens. A good action film but not what I hoped for. 6/10

Dr Strange - if the makers were attempting to turn a subversive, trippy, alternative comic into a glib, sub par version of Inception, they did very well. This film is awful - really awful. 2/10

Hidden figures Based on the true story of black women maths experts who were discriminated against but played a key part in the American race to space. Good film , humour , politics and well acted although the plot seemed a bit far fetched to me. Well worth watching. 7.5/10

The viceroy's house. Based on the story of Indias journey to independence and how the split between Pakistan and India was promoted by Britain ( Churchill) as a way to weaken the two countries and to thwart any possible Russian interference in the area. Only led to 1 million people being killed. Interesting story and if you can get past Gillian Anderson's tilted head well worth seeing. Sad happy funny angry all the emotions get pulled out. 8/10
