They could offer us, Ratchford, Dwyer AND £500k and I still wouldn't be happy. Williams is so important to the way we play, and is a real game breaker with his running game. I couldn't bear to lose him to another SL rival. I could understand if it was the NRL again, but for him to go to Warrington would really really annoy me. They should give Patton a go anyway, he played well last year and deserves his chance, he's 21 now as well so it isn't like he is miles younger than Williams. If Patton is going to make it properly, he needs to start getting regular action now.
If Williams wants to go we should slap a £1m price tag on him and make Wire pay it, from what I am hearing they have promised to double his wages and Wigan will be making a counter offer to extend his contract
Unless Williams is absolutely determined not to renew his contract, we should be doing everything to keep him. He is young and playing out of his skin in a key position, absolutely key to our success in the next few years IMO. It’s also probably more likely that he will stay in SL given that NRL teams would likely be hesitant to sign a Brit to play in the halves (I know Widdop is over there but he came through at Melbourne academy). If we sell Williams to Warrington it could keep hurting us for over a decade. I'm not sure what amount of money could make that worthwhile in a sport with a very tight salary cap, particularly with our marquee allowance tied up.

Pretty sure that he only has one season left on his contract. It is always going to be a risk allowing an international halfback to enter the final year of a contract signed as a youngster breaking through into the first team. It would have made sense to agree a new deal at the start of last season.
Could Wigan afford to turn down a big transfer fee for somebody who may go for free at the end of the year? I'd expect a new contract in the next month or a transfer to Warrington, with a new lucrative deal at Wigan being favourite.
Wire can make Williams their Marquee player with only £170k on the SC. Wigan can't as Sam T is our Marquee player. If Wigan want to keep Williams then there'll have to be departures, highly paid ones too, end of 2017.
