Green was traditionally associated with death in fishing communities but to not have it on our playing shirts because of superstition would be incredibly silly. To suggest it would insult the memories of lost trawlermen is melodramatic in the extreme.
Other superstitions included women not doing the washing on sailing days, whistling on board, mentioning pigs and eating boiled eggs.
