I remember it well. We were standing at the Airlie Street end between the scoreboard and the Threepenny Stand. Don't remember the pitch being that bad though.

Was in the 3d stand. Absolutely brilliant that was at time when we in decline. Even back then notice how Wigan cheat with the attempted pull back on DIck - some things don't change.
I heard a recording of DDD's commentary of that moment later - hysterical doesn't even begin to describe it but in this case very appropriate.
