It is the rule but it's stupid that in one instance you get penalised and in the other you get to play the ball and the only difference is taht the ref hasn't shouted held. The rules should be the same for both

I disagree with some of the chat about Russell dragging his heels getting back onside. That particular play was all but in line with where I was sat in the west stand. I think he knew exactly where he was on the pitch and what he was doing !! With the momentum we had at that point in the game, I think it was definitely a professional foul. And should have been dealt with as such.

For me there were a few errors but as others have said, our play was our downfall, not the reffing team.
1. The third chuckle brother running the line should have seen the forward pass for their try 2. The laying on was no different to Talanoa against Wakey. Should have been a penalty and 10 minutes (for consistency) 3. The other TJ saw the foul play (Watts shoulder) yet didn't think it significant to call until the Wire play broke down shortly after. If its foul play it should be called straight away. Advantage is the refs call not the TJs.
No problem with the rest of it or the result. We made too many mistakes and didn't play smart when we had the ball.

Not forgetting he should also have seen the ball before it hit his, proves how observant these guys are......not!
For me the standard of officiating has slowly got worse and to be honest when you have someone like Ganson as the Ref in Chief should we really expect anything different. Unfortunately there are a few ref's that act as though they are the focal point of the sport and this shows in perfomances. Listening to Cummins on Sky even he still defends the ref's to the point of blind loyalty even when its clear the officials have made a bad mistake. Yes mistakes happen but its not so much the mistakes that are the issue its the fundemental lack of consistency across the board in the officiating.
The rule of Try/No Try should be removed as its just makes the game a complete joke, I'm all for technology helping but the over reliance on it by the ref's is SL is embarrasing and they should back their own judgement instead of bottling decisions and refering a large number to the screen.
I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

After pretty much every game there's a discussion about the referee, whether on it's own thread of part of another thread talking about the game. That's where we're at with our SL officials unfortunately. Thaler is becoming a bit of a parody of Ganson. loving the attention and prancing around like a peacock.
Chris28 has called it with correctly with the decisions he raised.
Would it have changed the result? Probably not. Although if the Shaul break/Lineham laying on had been penalised & sin-binned (consistent with Talanoa at Wakefield), then who knows?
Overall, Wire deserved the win. They wanted it a lot more, dominated the ruck, played better rugby for the most part, and had a better kicking game. Worthy LLS winners, and I hope they win the GF too (if we don't )

We had Thaler for the semi against Wigan, talking to a couple of Wigan fans after the game they agreed that he had given them every opportunity to win that game so again poor display from the man in the middle.
As a previous poster has said the ref has been discussed on numerous occasions this year win, lose or.... ok we haven't drawn this year
Out of interest do you disagree with any of the comments about the refs performance? Or for example do you feel that it wasn't a professional foul on Taylor?

TBH - I think Thaler's performances have dipped recently which is concerning because he was my preferred ref before. He seemed to be able to control a game very well, but his approach recently has changed quite a bit. I agree consistency is a real problem atm with the decisions the refs are making. I do agree with DGM regarding him being a parody of Ganson. I personally think Ganson's appointment was a poor decision and until they get rid of him nothing will change. I would just like to make a point about the officiating between Leeds & Leigh, it was a pretty poor performance by the ref, but equally it was a poor performance by Leigh. My point being is, it is what it is and there is no point dwelling on it and we must move on. BTW, yes it was a foul on Taylor, but like iv'e already said, consistency is a big problem atm.Sometimes it goes for you and sometime it don't. HTH.
