If it wasn't a big gate then surely this is the explanation? Even still I've never had any delays at sell out crowds, so suspect a few minutes seems like a problem to the impatient
I take it you've not been to the KCOM the past few weeks and witnessed these new turnstiles in action?
There have been silly queues each home game since they were unveiled, Friday the worst it's been so far.
It took us 25minutes queuing on Friday, getting to our seats just as the teams were lining up. Many behind us in the queue probably missed kick off.
The problem is the slow scanner, and also that the next person can only scan once the previous one is fully through the turnstile. But, the turnstile is still in it's original position, so it's a good 2/3 meters away. It's a terrible system.

It doesn't help that the scanners don't seem to like the "print at home" tickets. Sometimes they work, but don't more often than not. Having to get a steward to scan you through adds to the delay.
It also doesn't help when people don't lay the ticket or pass flat on the area where its marked out. Seems to me that the slow ones are when people put their ticket half way up in the air. None the less its a poor system.

I never arrive with 25 minutes to go so I wouldn't know about how long the latecomers get to queue. Fans were warned not to turn up late/turn up earlier, so why would one arrive with such a short space of time before kick-off? As I said, if loads of people all turn up at the same time which is very apparent that is what happens most home games with fans filtering in within the last 20 minutes or so then just one or two snags can easily create a large tailback never mind due to sheer weight of numbers.

No matter what you say, the system is abysmal. Allam just being his usual moronic self

Do you still make visitors cram into that pen, despite the wider stadium being half-empty at best?
It must be frustrating that such issues are largely out of your control. I love it when we play in Hull; in fact, I have a hotel booked for next week. However, the stadium experience usually tends to be poor. Would the club be able to sustain its own stadium?

Away fans have been put into the north east corner since the start of the season but it's hardly a pen and no away fans have ever been "crammed in" and I doubt the section has ever been more than about 1/2 full at best. Having said that, the wigan fans were in the north stand last friday - maybe the bus turned up late so they let them sit behind the sticks

You do talk some garbage Bumpy. Clearly you haven't seen the new system, which makes it weird that your trying to add your input to this thread.

The issue is with the 2-4 second pause/delay from when the person in front exits the turnstyle. This should in all honesty be a simple adjustment to the program of the system as you would assume that is was set like this on first install to aid the bedding in period with fans etc. However if this is not the case and the system runs like this then it is simply not fit for purpose. The system should be able to allow the next person the scan their pass/ticket immediately after the person in front has entered the turnstyle and not have the pause/delay.
It really isnt rocket science just another poorly thought out and poorly implemented change by the SMC.
I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

I can't comment about the turnstile and how much/little time it takes for them to move and people to exit as I use the lift, but I put my pass under the scanner on Friday and waited for it to beep then we waited for the screen to clear so the next person can enter and the steward told us we don't have to wait for it to go back to the first screen (after its said "enter)" you can put the next pass straight on which is what we did. This might work better if you have a family together and all the passes can be scanned quickly by one person and then each individual enters the turnstiles separately.
