I agree its a farce, I also don't see what cost has been saved by doing away with the old turnstiles staffed by stewards, as there are just as many stood there to tell people what to do and sort out problems. Disappointing crowd tonight and I think the faff of buying tickets in advance and then the queues to get in (to a half empty ground!) are a factor.

I tend to have the gift of the barcode after working retail jobs through uni but I think the KCOM machines are just slow, everyone needing at least a couple of seconds of hovering soon creates a massive delay. There was nothing wrong with the previous scanners.

I dont see the problem with manned turnstiles and pay on the gate anyway. I know some people on here have done it so maybe they can confirm if/how much they get paid. Surely people would do it for nowt if they got free entry to games?

Way back in the Boulevard days you got paid £10 to work from 1.30pm to around 3.20pm ( 3.15pm kick of time then). It was about an extra £2.50/£3 to work until half time.
Times have changed though since then what with minimum/living wage, 0 hour contracts, casual contracts etc. When I was cashier at the Boulevard the referee and the Doctor was paid out of the turnstile money.

Arrive in good time and it's not a problem. If a coupleof thousand turn up all at the same time tthere's bound to be some queuing. If it wasn't a big gate then surely this is the explanation? Even still I've never had any delays at sell out crowds, so suspect a few minutes seems like a problem to the impatient

Aye patience is a virtue for sure. Adam Pearson showed that when he stuck with Radders when some wanted otherwise.
