I watched back the last 15 minutes n the beeb and they put up the tackle stats. They talked about Houghton making 52 - but our second best was Ellis on 37 - more than any Wire player - and he did that having only 60 minutes on the field.

A true captains knock and something we should appreciate. That's some workrate for a 35 year old forward and went totally unnoticed by the Beeb.

The man is an absolute inspiration. I honestly thought he would never come back from his last injury. How naive am i. He is back, better then ever. If we could clone players I would want him done first.

I'm already worried about how we'll replace him and mini when they hang up their boots

I can't even think about it, hopefully Mini will do an extra year and Elliott Whitehead will get homesick.

Like many others I was at Headingley for his debut he never made a few years ago now. He came back, and has done from even worse since.
He got sold a dream and chose us, as opposed to others when returning to SL, and by his own admission it's took a little longer than we all had hoped.
But he's an inspirational human being, rugby player and leader of our club.
Can't begin to speak highly enough of him and how fitting for him, and us, to lift that much vaunted silverware above his head yesterday.

It's not just how many tackle he makes, it's how hard he hits. Saved us so many yards in contact.

It's been an honour to watch him wear the black and white jersey.
